Youtube suppressing the full Joe Rogan/Trump interview in search?

    It is owned by Spotify I believe - they usually in the past would not post full episodes of the JRPC ever since he signed with Spotify. Sometimes they would pop up and then be taken down, I assumed it was because Spotify did not want them up in full.

    The full episode is still on Youtube (over 33 million views) - it's not a Spotify exclusive. I do not believe that Spotify has influence over Youtube Search. The full version of the interview is clearly deliberately excluded from Youtube search.

    This is not the same thing. That post is from 3 days ago. The video is up on Youtube. It should appear in search.

    That is, unless Joe Rogan's team explicitly would have set it to not appear in search, which would be strange.

    You are right - I had to look it up because I remember that it used to be impossible to find full Rogan episodes. He and Spotify reached a new deal like 6 months ago. Spotify handles all the distribution rights to platforms like Youtube - but it is on there. I don't know anything beyond that.

    It wouldn't be Joe Rogan's team - I think it would be Spotify that handles all of that from what I can find.

    One thing I have noticed on Meta is that embedding certain Instagram posts seems to not work. I don't know if that's something the account owner sets or if certain posts are deliberately "de-boosted" that way.

    I think it is rather well-known that the majority of big tech employees are quite left-leaning.

    If that's the case, I guess in theory it could be that they deliberately don't list it in search on Youtube so that more people would come to Spotify. Again, I would find it weird though.

    Is it? Not for me. There are links to media coverage of it and some snippets, but no link to the actual full interview for me.

    I actually get hits about a Kamala rally and stuff.

    I search using Google's video search since they own youtube. Literally never go directly to Youtube.

    But the problem is obvious. Youtube search for Trump and Harris is prioritizing news rather than video.

    I don't believe that when you search for "rogan trump FULL INTERVIEW" it would prioritize news rather than the video. Their search is not that bad. I tried all kinds of combinations..."entire interview"..."full length interview"...etc. etc. etc.

    I scrolled way down, too.

    There is simply no way to get to the full interview through Youtube search, as of today.

    Looks like they are actively "de-boosting" it. It's a known tactic.

    It is that bad. Search Trump or Harris. News will come first. Search Joe Rogan, it will be his latest episodes.

    So as soon as you add "Trump" to Joe Rogan, you don't get the full interview.

    When I search "joe rogan tucker carlson", the top hit is the full interview. Same with Elon Musk and anyone else I tried.

    This is active de-boosting.

    When I typed: joe rogan experience donald trump, it came up 3rd after some ads channels from local news stations, when I removed donald it didn't show up. Not sure if it's ****ery afoot or just weird algorithms.
