What precisely are you disputing? You would have been a good party soldier in Stalinist Russia or even in certain German regimes. Whatever the party says, you say.
I'm disputing your grasp on what either of the major parties in the US is actually in favor of or plan to do.
I understand. It's only fair that naturalized citizens who live, pay taxes, and contribute to this country have a say and the right to vote. Just so you're aware, though, the party of Trump would rather people like you not have that right and have begun pushing constitutional amendments that would prohibit you from ever voting. I just voted against the one linked above. It's worded confusingly (deceptively) and I wouldn't be shocked if it passes. Good luck with your party of choice!
There are plenty of quotes that say differently though. In fact, I'm pretty sure you have posted some of those comments from twitter over onto here. That said, social conservativism (and an anti-woman bias) could be a major factor, more easily hidden by saying due to Biden's support of Israel during the war.
Thanks. I am not in a rush at all. I would have never thought I would even consider taking on a different citizenship from the one I was born with. Maybe it will never happen. That would be fine, too. Spoke to a Polish guy yesterday who moved to the US at the age of 9 and was on a Green Card for 33 years before finally taking on US citizenship. I would be fine paying taxes and being on a Green Card. I just think my children are already more American than they are German or British (my wife is British). They pledge allegiance to the flag every day, I think . As to taxes, I have probably already paid more taxes in the short time I have been here than some pay in their lifetime. And that's fine. I hope I will pay a lot more still! In my personal case, I studied in the US and lived in Houston for a year when I was in my early 20s (30 years ago). Largely (but not only) through my love for the Houston Rockets, which started back then, and through this community, I have stayed in touch with what happens in the USA. Of course not as if I had been living in the country the entire time, but it never felt like I "lost sight of what was happening". In my professional career, I always worked for companies which were either American or had American shareholders. I always admired the American work ethic (as opposed to that in parts of Europe). Among European leftists, there is a very very strong anti-USA sentiment that pervades every aspect of their societal views. E.g. when it comes to European data protection laws, it's literally all about preventing data from going to the USA. None of the data protection activists in Germany actually cares about data going to China - it's all just another front of anti-Americanism. As a former Fulbright scholar, I never lost my fondness for the USA, and have naturally been turned off by the anti-American attitude of European leftists. But for a long time, I viewed US politics quite neutrally. I was more motivated by whether I liked the individual candidates than whether they were Republican or Democrats. For instance, I always liked Bill Clinton and I was a huge Barack Obama fan in the beginning. Only since I moved to the US and have been witnessing the rise of extreme wokeism and leftism and the alliance of leftists and Islamists in recent years have I clearly realized that the Democrats in their current form are much more dangerous than Trump will ever be. I don't think American moderate leftists realize how much European leftists hate the USA. Of course, American far leftists hate the USA too, so there is a natural alliance there. German and European media is almost exclusively leftist - they depict Kamala Harris as some kind of female Jesus while depicting Trump and Musk as Hitleresque Nazis. It's actually embarrassing.
FWIW, we shouldn't need to show our ID to the police. They can easily pull up our IDs on their computers. Big brother is always tracking us.
Why don't you go over your biography again Macbeth - congrats on the Fulbright scholarship you just awarded yourself, did Putin pin it on the piss baby himself?
By the way, Fulbright was a Democrat. History is often complicated. I am grateful for the scholarship (and that's how I ended up in Houston in the first place, they just sent me there...I was supposed to go to Emory, but the dates didn't work out, and then I ended up in Houston). Met George Bush sr. and took a photo with him. This year, one with his son. Fulbright was also a man who spent the vast majority of his public career and life as a proud segregationist and who voted against the 1964 and 1965 Civil Rights acts. But those were different times.
Yeah, it totally reeks of desperation to try and make a "Nazi" connection just because the same venue is used. I guess the Knicks games are all "Nazi" games, too.
Yup none of them said racist things keep on apologizing for the Nazi bent it only shows you are complicit with it. DD
If you were facing a hopeless duopoly in which both the options were out to get you, do you think you'd just submit to the lesser threat? Human nature is to deny the legitimacy of the whole framework and behave as you would in an authoritarian state -- stay safe but lend no support for your rulers, and wait for an opportunity for change.
