Since the Ime Udoka era, Udoka has not picked or traded for a star type of player. Alperen is his best shot. Jalen Green helps him with scoring. FVV, Brooks, Amen, Reed, Bullock, Holiday, Jeff Green, Landale, Steven Adams......
The proof is that no other "franchise player" would be benched for an entire fourth quarter. It’s not just about whether he played poorly or not; it’s more about how Ime views his status. Easily an expendable piece and nothing more.
It would need to be Sengun, Freddy and one of the young core (Cam?) to make the numbers work. edit: plus all of the upcoming PHX picks
If there was a level of player you'd trade Sengun for it would be Giannis. Obviously he provides an elite defensive 1-5 elite defender but the problem is he probably has the same issues that Sengun has on offense and compatibility with Green in that Giannis also does almost all his offensive damage in the paint and the clogged paint issue would still exist with Giannis. If there was a trade I'd be willing to do last season even though it would be at the expense of losing a young guy like Jabari was going after KAT. I think his game solves a lot of this team's issues on offense as an elite stretch big. And you aren't trading for him by giving up on the highest ceiling guys on the team in Green, Sengun and Amen. With Giannis you have to give up at least one of those guys at the minimum.
To answer the OP's question, neither Jalen nor Sengun are likely to be traded until next July. The CBA's poison pill provision makes it very difficult to trade players who signed a rookie extension before that extension kicks in.
Not very easily, no. You're looking at the summer for it being a realistic option to trade Sengun or Jalen.
When I enter either of them into the fanspo trade machine, it says they cannot be traded before next summer.
Does the concept of "Base Year Compensation Players" still exist? I remember that...isn't that what Alpi and Jalen would be, at this point?
Giannis has slipped a good amount defensively actually. Obviously he's still good or very good, but he's not close to what he was at his peak. He also is a poor fit for the rockets, he can't play with amen and jalen is a very poor fit for him, obviously sengun would be a horrid fit. I also can't stand him so i don't want to have to root for him lol
