It is really hard to consistently hit big shots when you go long stretches without getting shots. It’s similar to how difficult it is to be a pinch hitter in baseball for one big at bat after sitting the bench all game.

That’s the issue Jabari Smith Jr. finds himself in on this roster as the fourth option. If he keeps bringing the defense and the rebounding, he’ll be fine.

 

Bari needs to make his shots. those are the only shots he is going to get. Ime has no offense. Ime relies on the greatness of his players. Im not saying This game is on Bari (I BLAME FRED) . I'm just saying make your shots.It's ****ing time to make your shots.

Keldon freaking Johnson and all those trash ass players on the spurs make their shots when they get the ball passed to them.

Rockets not going to win if only Jalen and Sengun are hitting shots.

 

My one take away from this game is Cam needs to play more.

Cam should actually be our 6th man, Amen always comes in first but it should be Cam. I love Amen but him leading the bench unit ain't working so far. Amen is a utility player, a bonus player.

That lineup with Amen and the bench unit has been garbage so far and I'd argue lost us both of these games or played a big role in it.

Also more time with Cam and Green on the floor.

I wouldn’t mind this, but I don’t think Ime Udoka is good when it comes to designing creative offensive actions. He’s a hardcore defensive minded coach, and I guarantee he sees giving up 62 points to the Spurs in the first half as the primary reason the Rockets lost rather than missing 17 straight shots in the second quarter.

 

This is a coaching issue yet again. It is a B2B it is pretty clear Sengun, Jabari and Amen are tired but coach still overplays them.

Why did Landale only play 13 mins? He had it going. Whitmore only 20 mins? He was scoring great. No Jeff Green? Wtf.

 

Amen is not a PG. If Ime is going to have no plays and relies on greatness, you gotta give the spot to Cam since he can shoot. I agree.

 

High screens with Sengun is different than with a stretch guy like Jokic. Sengun can’t shoot more than 15 ft so defenders would simply drop to defend the ball handler or Sengun’s dribble drive. This is the issue. I think a lot of the Rockets problems are that they don’t have guys that put pressure on defenses at the 3 and 4 spots. FVV is inconsistent and doesn’t have the speed to consistently put pressure on defenses. I liked point Amen in that Memphis game. Cam seems to be developing chemistry with Green in those lineups with that tandem. Perhaps this is the starting lineup of the future. But these lineups ain’t it. Especially Reed playing right now.

Jabari needs to make his shots, but Fred VanVleet to needs to get everyone in the starting lineup engaged on the offensive end from the opening tip. That will pay big dividends down the stretch of games.

 

I agree! if fred is not going to do no point guarding just give all the reps to jalen.

but when there is no plan from Ime in the offense... i dont even know.

 

I’m keeping my eye on Reed Sheppard hoping he doesn’t contract the Jabari disease

man is a 52% 3 point shooter in college who has gone 4-17 from deep since game 1 of preseason

 

Oh I agree. Ime has zero offensive chops as a coach. He needs to hire one that does or get a floor-general PG who can do it for him like a certain former Rocket with lustrous facial hair rather than a mighty mouse chucker who's great at keeping things calm but **** at getting things going.

 

Pretty sure Jabari Smith Jr is dead on some UFO somewhere and this is some bodysnatcher imposter type **** going on. That video you posted is all the evidence we need, get Will Smith's ass on the phone with one of them flashy dildo things.

 

Somehow I have a hunch that this will mark the decline of Fred Van Vleet.

He might still have great games down the line but as a whole.
