Certainly the US has gone through previous tough times and the Civil War was much tougher than now. The late 60’s early 70’s were difficult but what separates them from now was that the Constitutional checks were stronger. Nixon did resign for things that were far less serious than what Trump has been indicted for. The USSC didn’t believe support the idea of broadband nebulous immunity for the President and partisanship wasn’t nearly as strong.
