Sheppard played great as a bench player. He didn't take over the game with his offenese but chipped in during our 3rd quarter domination.

I watched the game. He was on the bench when Tari and Amen started dominating so don't act like he did amazing. Dude played all of 12 mins he played better than his first game but it wasnt anything outstanding either.

Did you watch the game? Where would you say Sheppard played like a star or took over the game offensively or defensively for you to ask me if I watched the game? If you can't say you are the one who didnt watch the game and were prob looking at Kentucky highlights instead.

Fixed it for you. 6/0/2 isnt anywhere near greatness.

Oh my expectations for a rookie bench player is quite low. Although he didn't stuff the stats, he chipped in his own way during the third quarter.

No turnovers, solid team defense, he played great as a bench player.

If the expectation is that he would b starting material or franchise player from the getgo, that stat line will make u worry.

Again he didn't play great he played ok.

Amen and Tari played great. RS played ok. 6/0/2 isn't great by any stretch. He also wasn't as good defensively as Amen and Tari and didn't pop off offensively like Cam.

What I don't like is everyone is glazing Reed Sheppard for playing like a replacement level backup pg but then bashing Jabari who is playing like an average starting PF. They are both 3rd picks it's kinda ridiculous the difference in treatment between these 2. And of course Jabari is starting his 3rd year but at least he is a starter unlike RS who is a bench dude.

He has full credit. 2/4 3pt is a good game for now.

Reed played within the system - and the system is mostly about other players. He didnt really do anything wrong. He played good defense with active hands, he shot the ball well and he found the open teammate and created shots for them. It was just in very limited usage and minutes. His numbers would have looked a lot different, if he had been on a bad team that needed him to take a bigger role and play more minutes. Overall encouragin game by him, I hope he gets more minutes soon.

I think we could potentially have a sneaky good 2nd unit with him and Amen leading them. They are increasing the overall iq of the lineup massively. You can't really expect Tari/Cam offense to be sustainable. Reed and Amen are the maestros of the 2nd unit.

Reed playing “just OK” IS great for this team. The single biggest roster challenge we have is total reliance on FVV. No one else can set up and orchestrate an orderly offense. Reed is showing signs he can be calm and composed, knock down shots when available, and hold his own on defense.

When he gets more experience doing that, he immediately becomes one of the most valuable players given FVV will inevitably need rest or could get injured.

“Just an average backup PG” would be a fabulous outcome for a rookie, especially if we signs of a lights-out shooter (that 1st 3 where the net barely moved was beautiful).

    Edey starts

Last night Edey had 4 fouls......established so called top 5 center in the league Sengun had 5 fouls.

Edey was one of the main reasons Jabari, Jalen Green and Sengun each shot 38% (FG%)
and Dillon Brooks shot 42% (FG%).

People just don't want to give the rook credit.

Where did anyone say he played like a star? Why would you expect a rookie's first two games to be star-like?

There are a lot of nuances in judging a player's performance. Not just "outstanding" or "mediocre." You can play well and show promise without being dominant.

Yeah, the hope is that he will produce more and more as he gets more comfortable on the court. No one expected him to burn the nets from day one. I mean, it would be great, but that's a pretty rare thing for 20 year old rookies.

Really, the fact that Ime is putting him on the floor is a win. To have the trust as a rookie to be played significant minutes on a competitive, hopefully playoff-bound team is a good sign. Amen and Cam didn't start off getting minutes if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I was surprised that Ime gave him so much PT right at the start. He's definitely earned the trust. He didn't try to do too much on the floor. Made a couple of nice passes to wide open Tari for 6 points.

I think some is trying to expedite his development. Probably figure if he give me him more time early(versus what he did with Cam and to a lesser extent Amen last season ) he’ll be more prepped for the end of the season. Becaue Holiday is right there and definitely ready to contribute

It was actually pretty funny hearing the announcers try and skirt around the Cocaine Curry nickname last night. Was nice to see him get some 3's off. I have no worries with him tbh, he looks like I expected him to look coming in. As time goes by they'll figure out what works more and more, get him more open looks and he'll hit them because it's what he does. That shooting stroke is the absolute truth. He does look ****ing tiny though, if he's 6'3 then Jalen might even be the 6'6 he was claimed to be coming in. I wish we'd run more off-ball actions for Reed to get him more separation, I feel like having him come off screens would easily weaponize him and he could quite effortless go off for a big game or 2.

Reed would develop sooooo much more if Van Fleet wasn't on the team. You could start Reed in his place and I really think he would flourish. No hate towards Fred, but that's just the circumstances we're in right now.
