I mean we didn't draft him for his playmaking. We drafted him for defense a shooting. He's as advertised on the defensive end. His offense still needs a lot of work.
If any Rocket is a traffic cone on defense and doesn’t give effort on the boards, they deserve to ride the bench. Also, Jabari isn’t getting hardly any plays run for him in the Rockets’ offense, so it’s hard to know how much of a scorer he could be if they made him one of their primary options. Right now, he’s the fourth option behind Sengun, Green and VanVleet. The one thing I want to see Jabari really improve on is going up strong in the paint. Stop the layup putbacks and instead focus on dunking the ball and either finishing through contact or getting fouled. As for Amen, he was terrible in the first half. Kudos to him for picking it up in the third quarter in a big way, but he was a large part of the reason the Rockets had a 12-point hole in the second quarter because of numerous bad turnovers. Furthermore, until Amen learns how to shoot or become a better point guard, he can’t share the floor with another non shooter. Finally, I agree that Tari Eason is pushing for more minutes, but they should come at the expense of Dillon Brooks.
His role 3 and D would still guarantee him up to 25-28 million a year if he stays on track........ If he is forcing it, then he would have beef with more talented players on the totem pole.
Even when we won against the Grizz and Jabari got a double double some of you haters just won’t shut up lol.
Jalen Suggs got 30m per year as a 3&D player (who only was good from 3 for one year). Sure, he is also a leader, but Jabari is also 6-111. I expect at least a contract similar to the one Suggs has gotten.
No problem. Rafael Stone is a fierce negotiator, I doubt his agent will lure tons of extra money from him.
Been hating on Jabari the past couple posts but I thought he played his ass off tonight. Just wish he could consistently hit an open 3... but maybe if he does that we won't be able to afford him anyways.
Look Jabari played fine but IMO last night showed that you don't pay $30m for that. Most of his 5 baskets were tips or uncontested underneath off of rebounds or with others creating for him. Hit zero 3s. He did have a career high 4 assists on run outs I guess so at least that's new. He is what he is at this point - ok Not much more to say
Sure, don’t mention his 16 boards and second highest +/-. Easy to make a point when you cherry pick stats.
Agreed. I don’t want Jabari to force his offense at the expense of better options. I just was saying it’s hard to say he’s non-factor offensively when his role is the fourth option on this team. Players in those roles on any team will not consistently score every night because their opportunities are limited.
Jabari was instrumental in this victory. He will be up and down with 3-pt shooting as are most guys. When Jabari plays this aggressively he is a plus starter. FVV sucked at 3 pointers last game and nobody was screaming about benching him. This team is on its way to be a year after year championship contender. Our fans just need to be patient and Ime needs to improve his rotations. Our identity is as a defensive juggernaut with Uber athletes all over the court.
yeah, we didn’t draft him for his playmaking, but the point is that his playmaking is so poor, whether off the dribble or to pass, that it makes it very hard to justify his minutes, especially when he can’t shoot (what we drafted him for). Rebounding and hustle plays will only keep him on the floor for so long, Tari can do those things, and more.
Seriously though, why don't you just go and start your own website full of pictures of Alpi to masturbate over? You're evidently not a Rockets fan and have zero interest in any other player on the team. Why not go and jerk off with yourself in your own little safe space instead of persistently polluting a HOUSTON ROCKETS fan forum?
I was at the game last night and I loved how Jabari played. He did a lot of dirty work and played tough. I wish he could do that on a more frequent basis.
The interesting thing with Bari is that we have to make a decision on his extension next offseason. If he doesn’t make a big jump, we are in a similar situation to Jalen. And whatever folks feel about the Jalen extension, he at least has a higher upside than Bari. I can’t help but see a trade candidate unless he absolutely kills it this yr. Eventually u have to make tough decisions when there’s so much other young talent on the roster.
I think it's arguably worse that we have him and Tari at the same time. I can see a world where Tari's the more valuable prospect, but do we have to give him some run as a starter in order to evaluate that? I feel like either one of them could make the other redundant in long term plans which makes the decision on them all the harder overall. Regardless of what you feel about Alpi or Jalen (I love them both, many don't) they're very different players and don't have any real overlap/redundancies. I feel it's super clear that Amen's way more than Cam will ever develop into. But Tari/Bari? Could be a really tough call tbh.
