It has nothing to do with Kamala Harris. The paper said that they will not endorse any candidates at any point in time going forward. Personally I agree with the decision - I have never been comfortable with media or papers supporting candidates in elections.
I agree and with dwindling subscription, if you upset 25% of you customers, that could spell the end for some rags. We will soon be seeing newspapers on Antiques roadshow.
To me it isn't even that - it is that they should present the facts - they can even have editorials but there is no need to then have the paper endorse a candidate.
He is such an insincere piece of ****. He is smart enough to know the context of newspapers having stopped endorsements over the last handful of years and the fact that the paper said flat out they have decided to not do any endorsements going forward. However - Cotton (who isn't stupid) doesn't care about the truth or objectivity, all he cares about is anything that can be used to attack the other side at ALL costs.
LOL, papers and media make choices EVERY DAY in terms of what candidates to cover, what agendas to set, and what messages to send - they publish op/eds etc, make up the headlines etc etc etc Pretending that an unsigned editorial from the staff is some kind of level of "thumb on the scale" and everything else is just regular old neutral objective stuff - that's crazy talk. Here's the deal, you don't get to put "Democracy Dies in Darkness" on your header for 8 years and then, when a guy who thinks Hitler had some good ideas is less constrained than ever is getting ready to actually do it, decide "...so I'll turn down the lights so that I don't get hurt because I'm super rich" Great power, great responsibility, all that. If you don't like it, don't buy a newspaper.
