Jabari plays extremely small for his height. I would rather run with 6'7 Amen Thompson with his 7 ft wingspan who plays above the rim vs 6'11 Jabari Smith Jr with his 7'2 wingspan who plays below the rim.
People really forgetting that every team has tall lanky 4s now and think we'll get away with starting a wing at forward and one that can't even shoot. It's a bad idea. If you're going to go small then you at least do it with a tall SF that can shoot. Doing it with Amen then having Brooks still on the floor just seems terrible. Swap Amen for Brooks makes more sense.
Way too soon and Amen over Brooks indeed, especially after getting distracted and allowing himself to be taken out of it by freaking Hornets nobodies.
No. Shooting is important. Bari’s shot hasn’t looked great this season but he’s historically way better than Amen and until Amen is decent, we need that outside shooting threat for spacing with Sengun.
I've been arguing for Brooks to remain a starter, but after seeing last night... what the hell, we already can't create open catch&shoot opportunities as is. Start Amen over Brooks. I'm sorry Dillon
I would keep Jabari as a starter for now and reduce his mins if he doesn't improve. Only if he completely implodes should he be removed from the starting lineup.
I'd run some plays for him early to keep him motivated at the whole rebounding thing. And by plays, I mean cott, cott, cott it to the basket.
Our Rockets play one game, the first game of the season, and already there is an air of panic permeating the board. Can't say I am surprised.
Probably knee-jerk reaction from last night but start Amen over Green. Tari over Bari. Adams and Londale over Sengun.
Knee-jerk or just plain idiotic? Brooks contributed nothing, FVV was trash and Sengun and Green are the only reason we had points on the board. Put down the crack pipe, or learn to be a better troll. Even the worst Sengtards like Invocuck are better at it than this bullshit ass take tbh.
Like I said before, Jabari is the most protected player on the team and this thread proves it. "Keep him because shooting is important" I don't even disagree with that notion but at the same time, how does that hold Jabari accountable? The make up of the team has made it so that Jabari will get 25+ mins guaranteed even on a bad day. No wonder why he has no desire to improve. It's a shame Jeff Green is 40 years old, he's what we need.
Bari just needs to come off the bench. It will allow him to get more post touches and isolations. I would start Tari if he wasn't coming off injury.
Jabari is a Bust! That's why he fell 1 to 3, nothing improved in 3 seasons.. still rushes his jumpsuit, doesn't take advantage on height, he's a bench role player at best, much as ppl hate green , Sengun and green are miles ahead of others . Amen is super improving fast , he should start at pf , only a inch smaller or same height, rebound is the same.. jabari advantage was he was an elite shooter. But he's been terrible in the NBA , if he can't shoot , what's the use of him the lineup?
Tari has negative bbiq i don't mind Brooks starting over him. I'm not too high on him he's just a good asset.
This. Jabari despite all the haters serve a purpose as a spacer. He is what allows Sengun and Green to do their damage inside. It is Brooks who should be benched because Amen does everything better than him except for 3s, and Brooks unlike Jabari isnt a good 3 pt shooter.
