This Clippers roster on paper looks pretty terrible, a 35 year old James Harden that will be expected to be the Houston James Harden as your best player, Kawhi already getting his knees evaluated and it is pre season. KPJ should have an opportunity to put up empty stats once again, on what looks like a lottery bound team. How is James not looking to leave and throwing a tantrum? This is a far much worse situation than he was in when asking out of Houston.
Ty Lue and JVG should still be among the Top 10 coaching tandems in the league. The group does not look good on paper but weirder things have happened before.
Still a better SG than the Rockets have, but his off court issues make every game potentially his last.
Empty Stats + negative PR = Do Not Resuscitate He's probably gonna get some stats, I have no doubt, but that's no different than before. They are empty. The Clippers will be no better for it. And the headaches will come. They are inevitable. .
Cuttino Mobley like action at times, but wouldn’t trust him to keep his cool. If he does, good for him. I am not in favour or just cutting and firing people who are accused of something before they’re even convicted. In this case I liked it, because with him, we would’ve become another 98-04 disaster w/ Sengun instead of Yao. Still we should all root for people to do well and overcome their demons and past transgressions.
Maybe, but JVG has not coached in 17 years. It doesn't matter what your job was, trying to come back to it after a 17 year break at age 62 has to have some unknown attached to it. I would imagine the league has changed a lot, the way you communicate with Gen Z kids vs the guys he coached in the 90s and early 2000s has to be different. If you stay employed doing something you can make incremental adjustments, taking a 17 year break, idk..the gap is twice as long as his entire NBA head coaching career was.
All you need is this and the players know he won a Championship with the Celtics as a Consultant for Defense in 2024. It's not that difficult to find someone who vouches for Van Gundy.
Damn. 8 shots in 13 minutes, and he still had four other chances to get assists or dribble off his foot as well. That's a lot of coffee in his water bottle ... or something.
