I just don't think Jabari is even as great defensively as people always say. He unfortunately has not turned out to be a difference maker.
The problem with Jalen is (as it has always been) if his shot isn't on, he offers very little else. below avg playmaker with poor decision making and relatively low bball iq even at his absolute best, he is a below avg to avg defensive player - he is someone that in most cases you try to hide through various schemes on defense. A good defensive player is someone who acts as a playmaker on defense and someone you build schemes around to cause havoc. Jalen will never in anyone's wildest dreams have that sort of impact on the defensive end... couple that with his lack of playmaking ability to get others easy shots.... so basically Jalen's barometer will and always will be his scoring efficiency. Fair value for Jalen would've been Moses Moody's contract until proven otherwise... now we have to endure at least 2 more years before anything happens... unless some idiot team comes around. Great....
He brings nothing to the table. He works on getting new tats in the offseason more than anything in his game from all I can see.
hope and pray that my negative post brings out some sort of positive karma out of Jalen and makes me eat crow. But we've all been teased by Jalen and fooled so many times before that I barely have any hope that he'll figure things out and be an actual inpactful NBA player, especially now that we've already awarded him with big money.
Highest points and TS% in the game for the Rockets. But sure, let's blame Jalen and not the 3 starters playing like scrubs or the coach benching the star player and leaving the scrub performing players out there. You're definitely not biased at all...
I don't believe he will ever be a SUPERSTAR player, but he can be one of a good group of players, who can take turns when he is hot.... DD
Superstar status is tossed around here like a bowl of salad...... Jalen Green will be a very good player but most versatile he is not. His weapons are still his quick 1st step, okay ish at drawing fouls + decent finishing, his hot hand shooting 3s, improved FT shooting. (the very rare midrange and floater shot) He is an below to average defender when he wants to, average passer, decent rebounder. Not much of a bag, and not much consistency. Not strong. Not very adaptable, not that intelligent, disappears, not physical, shaky handles, not vocal enough Above all not mentally tough
A few too many 3's and a few missed passing opportunities but all in all a good two way game. Didn't get enough rebounds or transition. Was surprised to hear Udoka defending the shot selection. Wasn't a fan myself. I'd like fewer jumpers, more kick outs even if your teammates struggle a little. Have to show a bit more faith in their jumpers. He has to understand he needs Jabari/Brooks/FVV to space the floor for them. Unfortunate loss but a really encouraging individual game. 28 points on 23 shots, good defense, no turnovers and showed up at the end of the game.
Ok, but that still doesn't answer the question of why do you want him to take more shots where he's even less efficient than what he normally takes? If you're not happy with a players efficiency, having them take even less efficient shots seems like a strange solution.
As usual the jaters regurgitate the same bs without actually watching the game. Only legit complaint last game was he did force 3s too much. felt like only sengun, green and amen came to play. But as usual gotta btch about Jalen and not the folks who went Mia brooks/Smith
Where does it say he should take more shots? It merely says why he is getting any contract at all with the picky Rockets. Lol. Diversify his shots. He should stick to being a 3rd option on a good team but we have to find that Numero Uno, also to take pressure off Alperen.
His mind is telling him to take more shots so that he can be worthy of a max. He has no clue what kind of player he is. It's not me who wants him to take his shots. Gradually I think Udoka is at fault for encouraging him.
