It’s wild how inefficient we are on offense. Everyone’s FG% is meh. But we look like we’re going to have a good season.
We rarely shoot 35% or higher from the perimeter. They beat us because they have the guys who can make those shots when the game is on the line while we only have Fred. 1) We need a reliable shooting guard 2) Jabari has to go.
There is a lot of standing around. Our starting 5 doesn't work great. Didn't look great in the preseason either. I don't exactly know what the issue is.
Maybe we should look at high school coaches or something for a cheap coach with more offensive chops than our head coach.
Look at the box score - the only guys who scored were the primary ball handlers. Green, Sengun, and Fred took 60% of all available shots. Of course Charlotte was packing the paint - there were no playmakers out there. I know the stat sheet said Sengun had 5 assists, but he has been playing a lot more like Julius Randle than Jokic of late and probably should have involved his teammates more rather than forcing plays that weren’t there like that costly turnover at the end. I mean Jalen was worse, but that’s also his rep and Sengun is supposed to be the numero uno. …the offense is pretty uncreative for sure but no offense is going to look good if the guys with the ball in their hands the most are more interested in their own shot than finding better shots regardless of who takes it. The worst thing that happened to this team tonight is Alpi and Green hit a few shots and the Hornets got swarmed on defense and it made our Numeros think the shots they were taking were sustainable because of the big lead. Udoka is going to have to yank guys for not playing the right way - even on a single play, even up 18pts. That was an embarrassment of ego.
The efficiency tonight sucked Green 55.56%TS% Sengun 52.61 TS% Thompson 50.94 TS% Jabari Smith 48.08 TS% VavVleet. 35.43 TS% Brooks 16.67 TS% That's not going to win too many games.
I think you nailed it with this. Guys are always looking for their own shot first and for this game they definitely got cute. Jalen went into chuck mode the moment we pulled away and shot them right back into the game for instance. I think you are right about that, he needs to just pull guys Pop style until they understand they get their numbers with the team and not without. It really does feel like our offense is just Green/Sengun/FVV create and everyone else get what they can. Jabari hit two threes then doesn't shoot one again. Reed had nothing. Amen had like one nice cut and dunk then nothing. Cam can score but if he's out there to not get open shots and not cutting whats the use? I think this is the issue. I'm not saying FVV and Green and Sengun are selfish but you can definitely tell that sometimes they are playing for their numbers. The team is not playing completely as a team right now.
Jalen Green ball chucking ball chucking late 2nd - 3rd quarter got the Hornets back in the game...Udoka gonna have to tell Reed to be more aggressive looking for his shot for he's our best shooter on the team.
16.67%? What the actual ****? He basically has to punch Draymond in the face now or something to justify him still being on the roster.
