Not really. I think that he has long tried to get himself away from blue collar America, much like Obama and

He was a corporate lawyer and then a venture capitalist that has surrounded himself with similar people.

I don't consider Vance blue collar at all - and it isn't a political thing either, because Obama is similar as well.

You can tell with Vance, when he tries to harken to his roots or has a crowd of normal people he doesn't do well - he is at his best talking and being around academics and the like.

You will never hear me say he isn't smart enough for VP or even President - or that he doesn't understand policy or positions. I may strongly be repulsed by some of his odd beliefs on women's rights and the childless - but he knows the subject matter well.

I would argue that Trump isn't blue collar really - but he gets along better with blue collar folks better than Vance because he loves people.

His excuses change daily. At one point his own team said it was because he was exhausted.

Ehh I thought it was going to help him, but I don't think that it really has.

First, as it has been pointed out, he didn't really work at McDonalds, it was all heavily staged in a closed McDonalds.

Second - it just accents the fact that the guy isn't really blue collar and never had to have that type of job because he grew up wealthy.
If he had worked there in the past, then it would have been a cool political move.

Third - no one outside of hardened Republicans and Democrats care if Harris worked at McDonalds 45 years ago. McDonalds has already said that they do not, and their franchisee's do not have all their records going back to the 1980's.

So really it has just become a distraction - whether that is good or bad remains to be seen but it isn't moving any real votes. It isn't a new story either, for decades she has discussed working a summer at McDonald's.

It wasn't even the oddest story - Donald Trump pining for Arnold Palmer's penis was the oddest story and this Palmer's kids coming out and saying it disgusted them.

Donald Trump is 78 years old and has been basically campaigning for nearly a decade straight. Running for President has to be a grueling job, if he wants to cancel some appearances and rest - I think that is more than valid for him to do so. Same reason I never criticize the occupants in the Whitehouse for taking vacations or recreation, they need to be sharp and in a good mental space.

Is Forbes a weird site? a pillar in the left-ist MSM?

[Forbes] Trump Seemingly Falls Asleep During Michigan Event—Fuels Criticism From Harris

    Topline

Former President Donald Trump appeared to doze off during a campaign event in Michigan’s Oakland County on Friday, provoking further criticism from Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign, and following a string of canceled interviews this week that an advisor attributed to his “exhausted” state.

    Key Facts
    • Trump was attending a roundtable in the swing state of Michigan when he seemingly nodded off, with the former president closing his eyes as an Oakland County community member talked about the region’s educational issues.
    • Trump talked about his campaign schedule during the event, jabbing at the frequency of his campaign events and asking attendees, “You think this is an easy life I have, right?”
    • The former president attended the roundtable hours before he was scheduled to hold a rally in Detroit, which lasted for about an hour and a half.
    • Harris’ campaign referred to the former president as an “exhausted Trump.”
    • Trump’s bout of drowsiness comes after he canceled multiple interviews this week, with Politico reporting an adviser told the show’s producers Trump was “exhausted and refusing [some] interviews but that could change.”
    • A representative for Trump did not immediately respond to Forbes’ request for comment.

well that’s what credible news outlets do when the story is corroborated with multiple firsthand accounts and contemporaneous notes.

i think that’s about right. My larger point is that openly wanting to be a dictator is disqualifying, and we have pea brained people (trumpers, not you) brushing it off, saying well Trump he can’t actually achieve a full dictatorship so it doesn’t really matter and is totally a media fabrication.

Not political, but didn't K. Harris take a day off from stumping yesterday?

there is zero corroboration, just anonymous quotes. The only people who will go on record refute the story.

Just the last gasps of a dying campaign.

This is fair - I don't know if he said it or not. Some in the room say he did and others say it is not true.

What I will say is sad - based on other things he has said - that it is even remotely believable.

When you say that Vietnam service was only for suckers....... when you say that the highest military service award is inferior to the Medal of Freedom...when you get out of the draft, and then compare your avoidance of sexual diseases to fighting in battle... when you say that only losers are POW's...... when you have in the PAST said you wanted German Generals....... that makes it believable that Trump would complain about it costing $60,000 to bury "a dead Mexican" or that he wants the loyalty of Hitler's Generals.

John Kelly - the Chief of Staff for Trump - and Mark Miley - the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff have said Trump has said similar things in the past .... both were hand picked by Trump....McChrystal and McRaven---- two former Generals under Trump have confirmed such statements..... that doesn't even get into 2018 when he complained about visiting two cemeteries and how it would impact his hair - I rolled my eyes at that claim, seemed absurd but Fox News even stated it is true.

So - at this point, it doesn't even matter if Trump said it or not, because he has said too many similar things that have been confirmed. Trump will deny it - because he denies everything, but politically he would probably be better off not saying too much about it and letting it pass.... there are some things that Trump is great at and some he is not.

Reporting and publishing stories like that, which follow the traditional methods of sourcing and reporting, are also not intended to convert the partisans we see on this BBS. There is nothing that will convince them Trump is a bad person.

First-hand audio of John Kelly, former Marine general and White House chief of staff, saying that Trump admires Adolf Hitler isn't enough for them. Audio of Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women eight years ago wasn't enough for them. If there was new audio or video today they'd retreat and call it a deepfake. There is nothing that will convince them.

Look at Commodore's tweet above. They're still lying and saying that "suckers and losers" was made up. The source, John Kelly, is on-the-record now! It isn't made up! You either believe a former Marine general whose son is buried in Arlington National Cemetery or you believe Donald Trump.

Okay? Did this person hear everything the President said? Was he sewn to the President?

If this is what they want to hitch their wagon to - go ahead...... because there is no way for this person to have heard everything that the President said... he can say that he never heard the President make the comment and if he did hear it, he would remember it.

If Ron Klain, or Lloyd Austin were both on record and had audio recordings saying that Kamala Harris once called fallen military veterans "suckers and losers", and that Kamala often praised Hitler...

....Would you say the same thing??

    Would you downplay that then??

She supposedly had an interview - but yes, she wasn't campaigning yesterday.

Trump attacked her for not campaigning - called her lazy or a loser or stupid, I don't remember which.

Either way all of it is dumb, there is nothing wrong with either of them taking a day off after non stop campaigning for so long.... it is important to be rested and prepared.

“It doesn’t matter if he said it or not?” So you’re cool letting CBS lead with this story that Vanessa Guillen’s own family has refuted? You used to be a fairly reasonable poster but your comment above shows me that you’ve suspended logical thinking due to your political bias. It’s not OK to claim somebody said it’s not worth the money to “bury a f’ing Mexican”. You’re better than this, Nook.
