The play has always been a superstar trade. We now have young players with better salary to match a superstar’s max contract and plenty of picks to include.
The play is always trying to form a contender with your own drafted talent. That's always plan A of a rebuilding franchise. Sure if this season is a disappointment go to plan B.
Their tanks are running low, injuries occurring more frequently. I would take Durant over Harden. Not really crazy about either. Also, they would be demanding huge money.
What a time to be alive For sh!ts and giggles what do we give up in each scenario? Do we have enough left over to really push for a ring? I think for James you give up Jalen+Jabari For Durant you'd have to ship Sengun/Cam and their picks Harden Durant Tari/Amen Adams Reed Does that get it done?
They might have a couple of high quality years left. I've been waiting on Durant to break down since his achilles and he just keeps going.
Modern sports medicine is going to make NBA players play into their mid 40s as a routine thing. It seems to be trending this way. Primes for elite superstars seems to extend to mid 30s now when in 90s and early 2000s that's when star players were discussing retirement.
When are you guys going to realize that Houston continues to the be the "I might just go to Houston then" leverage by star players to get into better situations elsewhere. It's been going on since the infamous Bosh Ipad days and Harden specifically has retreaded that threat a few times in his post Rockets career. ...and when is Harden and Durant specifically going to realize they don't have as much leverage as they once had? As their windows close, there are fewer and fewer teams both built to compete now and willing to gamble on their continued health well into their twilight years - especially so with Harden. If Harden/Paul/Kawhi couldn't be a threat in LA...if the Suns couldn't win a playoff game..and the super team era is likely dying with the new CBA because teams can't go into the luxury tax and just pile on ex all stars as buyout candidates to fill out the bench anymore.
Yes and things change....they probably prefer someone in the SGA and Luka age range which they would not get..... And no Zion is not on that level.
I dont disagree with the majority of what you say, but Houston is positioned as a sexy destination all of a sudden and is 100% one of those teams who could break up the current core to attain these guys and still have enough leftover to make it worthwhile. Udoka is a guy players like to play for - both Harden and Durant have history with him. Harden is still loved here. How cool would it be for him to come back and with that last bit of juice get himself that ring and ride off into the sunset. Before you ask -- Yes Im a homer.
Does he mean "under the impression"? Which still is not confirming that he has a source but makes more sense than being under the influence.
My original thought he would be shipped out on a different deal. Now that you bring it up since its ROX Nation fantasy hour could FVV and Harden coexist in the same backcourt? Could you live with Freddy coming off the bench while Reed starts and gets spoon fed wide open 3pt shots? The what if's are endless!
Post hit at 4am so its either a time zone thing, an early bird gets the worm thing, or buddy was up all night furiously shtposting while slamming fireball and cocaine and tinkering with legacy mode on 2k.
Which is what? Aaron Gordon cost 32 mill per. Immanuel Quickley got 35 million per. Jalen Johnson got 30 mill per. Dillon Brooks after being denounced by the Grizz with only a few suitors coming off a terrible offensive season and horrific playoff performance at 27 years old STILL got around 22 per last FA, a whole 2 years before Bari gets paid with a bigger cap. 10ppg 2 rebound 30 y/o KCP got 22 mill per. It feels like the in-between gap has dwindled for good starters/role players, particularly for younger players, either you're taking MLE money or you're demanding 30 mill it seems. I can imagine a scenario where Jabari is willing to accept a 4/100 or 3/75 with a PO, but honestly I'm not sure how we could afford to do that with more impactful players like Eason and Amen likely to ask for similar money, if not more. I think it could make sense to replace Jabari with a Jeff Green / Steven Adams equivalent type of older role player for the MLE in FA and give way to Eason/Amen with more minutes. We have 8 young players we can't give all of them 30+ and 20+ million deals, not unless we look WAY closer to being a contender.
If Jabari is the same exact player as year 2 Jabari this season, I'm down for swapping Jabari for a cheaper vet who provides similar impact because there is an army of other young guys who you might need to give a giant bag to keep. It if Bari shows a trend of improving this season like higher volume and more efficiency at the three pointers but still isn't showing star trajectory id extend him long term for Quickly money because at least you have a long term high end role player locked up for a long time. With Bari I feel like his floor is pretty high but his ceiling is one of the lowest of the core 7. I'm confident Bari will at least have a long career as a decent role player at the minimum.
