My hat is off to Stone, Eli Witus, the front office, ownership - and to Alpi for taking a discount

Glad Sengun took a discount to play in Houston, even at 5 years 750 million he is worth it...

That's exactly why I said that is a .500 team without a huge jump. We can't expect Dillon, FVV, or Jeff to improve but to probably start going the other way soon. If one of our young guys becomes all-nba third team talent, then we will make that leap to a top 4 seed in the west. It sure isn't a given, since the roster hasn't changed.

There's at least some possibility the player's browse this site.

Definitely a huge thank you to Sengun and Green.

There's nothing to congratulate yet. They made 2 big choices today and I certainly understand the reasoning for both of them, but too early to call it a long term win yet.

The question still remains will either of these guys make the big leap. Just because we gave them a lot of money doesn't mean that question has been answered.

Yeah, I'm not "taking my hat off" to the FO any time soon. While I really like the Sengun deal, they chose to reward failure and further tie the franchise to a player who through 3 seasons has been a draft bust.

It's like every season we need to do a really bad deal (Brooks, Green) before doing a good deal (FVV, Sengun)....those bad deals are pretty likely to haunt the franchise moving forward unless something unexpected happens....especially if we make any more of them.

Right now we're stuck with one bad player that will demand they start for this season and 2 more and the other bad player who will demand to start for this season and 3 more. There's no "take your hat off" while that kind of GM malpractice is going on.

That's why we play the games. You trust Ime and Stone know what they are doing because they have more information than anyone else seeing those two in terms of work ethic and progress outside of games... More than anyone here at least.

We are adding Tari, Adams, Sheppard, and all our young guys should improve further, especially Alpi and Amen.

I’ll take it a step farther. We dont have a point guard CLOSE to being able to get the team into a half court set other than FVV. I wouldnt want to retain him for anywhere close to his current average annual value but if he will stay on at a discounted rate id love to see him sign an extension.

I love the sacrifice Goon was willing to make for the team. It’s almost unheard of to take less than you're worth in today’s NBA.

There is no sacrifice at all. He preferred security and a clear mind to 40 million on top of 185 million. He just had to because he wasn't offered a contract.

As for Green , I think the situation is different. He should be seeing the possibility of a season going bad combined with guaranteeing the money. Again there is no sacrifice, both players made rational choices.

I think those contracts are tradeable if must be.....that is why they are so flexible.

I am grateful to those people because at least the franchise would be exciting to watch.

The West is still so stacked that I cannot predict who wins it all in 5 years.

You have to give credit to their agencies as well because at the last moment they conveyed the message that there is a bigger risk if they go out in RFA.....in Jalen's case at least ....he could have ended up with a bad team with no hope for the Playoffs.

Would have made the money and for more years but a grim future so it was the best for both sides.

Both players understood the 2nd Apron, so that is great to know.

If our 20-21-22 year olds don’t improve, yes, we will be in trouble.

You could say the same for every young team.

Both players took contracts that is ultimately better for the team based on their current evaluation.

Sengun is the best player on the team, he is who you want to lock up for longer but for less money.

Green is still a TBC, so the most sensible thing is to give him a shorter term contract, even if it's more money. When it comes to bad contracts, you prefer one that is shorter term but more money, than longer term with less money.

One of the best things about this is that the older members of the young core just set the example for the younger guys. Probably helps us get them on similar moderate discounts and potentially keep everyone together. It would be hard for Jabari and Tari to argue they deserve more money than Alpi in most realistic scenarios next off-season, for example.
