It seems some of us lining up behind the team but not JG or Sengun only. We can still have a favorite player or two in the team and we can also agree to disagree on them...not troll but provide objective, realistic point of views...in a respectful way against each other...without calling each other names...I applaud you, @Mathloom and agree with you the new culture setting in Houston Rockets...and hopefully on ClutchFans platform!

He doesn’t qualify for a no trade clause. Need 8 years experience and 4 with same team. Besides its rare teams agree to no trade clauses which cripples their flexibility

This indicates that they are thinking about the bigger picture and it speaks well of them and of how they feel about the future.

They may think they’re max players but it’s up to the market. Teams may not be willing to give either a max contract. So teams may hold the leverage. But also each player has his own motivations and desires (chance to win, taxes, security etc.) who knows. We do know agents try to maximize as much money as possible for their clients.

Wierd time and thread to go full Eeyore.
    Yes my G.

All the 21 year old sub-max players w/ impending FA around the league agree with ….oh wait. That’s dumb. They don’t exist.

Cry elsewhere Luigi before you get Bowsered.

What an insult to Sengun, he is too humble for have taken that deal. Easily worth 5 year 500 million....

I guess I wasn't very clear but I was suggesting that they should play out this season without a contract, because if either are truly max players, they will get big max contracts next offseason from multiple different teams. I realize that it wasn't on the table right now.

Not a fan of this either. Maybe the league has changed with the new tax and trade rules, but I don’t get locking into this team like this.

I think another season of evaluation on Sengun and Green would have been well worth the potential “premiums” we could have payed if they played really well. I would have better understood committing to one of them and keeping cap flexibility open. Adding players for free through FA is big for a team that needs a ton of improvement to become a contender.

FO is banking on internal improvements and trades. I don’t really have faith in the FO with trades, we have some picks so that helps but it feels like internal improvements or bust. All of our key young players have heavy flaws, it’s far from a guarantee that any are allnba players who can be the guy for a contender.

So this combined with Green locks in a core to grow on the next 2 seasons. As crazy as it sounds, even this massive deal doesn't necessarily lock him in as the franchise centerpiece. But we did kick the can down the road a little to gives us more time to assess everybody as a potential centerpiece. Players improvement doesn't necessarily stop at year 4.

Unlike Green who has been Mr. Inconsistency, Sengun has shown consistent improvement and absolutely is worthy of this deal, hopefully he can keep taking steps to be that guy we build a title contender around.

The free agent crop looked like ass, so that probably played a big role in the choice to give up so much cap space.

Holy Overpay... According to Preseason data, he is as good as Payton Pritchard so Stone could have forced him to take that Payton salary. JG is a massive bargain though.
