Who’s anyone? Several fans on this site don’t agree with you so your statement simply is illogical and false.
I mean I like it. Gives us exactly enough time to see if he ever reaches his potential. If he does, then of course max deal, if not, bye. Doesn't really mess up our future at all because if he does suck we'll be drafting top 10 any ways.
To go from “bust” to negotiating trade kickers and player options is pretty funny though don’t you think?
The last time people said that, the next 4 years were spent moving around all the bad contracts and offloading FRPs for the service.
No outlets have reported this so it’s obvious this is your own thoughts, which are based on assumptions. You have no idea what the front office thinks. Neither do I. What we do know is what’s reported. And what we do know is Jalen and his agent is set to make a lot of money from the deal.
He has never been a bust though? He was just more inconsistent than expected. 1st year rookie All NBA 2nd year Rising stars 3rd year Player of the week He has achieved something every year and has flashes of being a good player here and there. Funny thing is Suggs is the one who was called a bust not Jalen.
I said "difficult", not "impossible". Where it becomes very doable is when a team like the T-Wolves or Celtics is already drowning in salary and they "overpay" to keep (what they believe is) a championship contender intact.
Didnt the salary cap stop increasing thatd why those deals went bad? It was just a one time massive increase IIRC. Thats why this time NBA is doing it in small increments.
Right now, thanks to ESPN/NBC/Amazon, it looks like they'll hit that 10% max increase every year for the next 7-8 years. Yes, I said it: The salary cap is gonna more than double over the next 8 years. Let's take a poll: Who gonna be the first $100M/year NBA player? It's gonna happen sooner than we think.
You do realize that if he proves he's actually earned it (in your eyes and the eyes of his skeptics) then he's getting a max 5 year 225 deal, right? This actually gives us MORE cap space this offseason. Which is, by the way, a reason to give him something. There are other reasons too. Most of them have already even been explained in plain words in this thread. Maybe read it? I don't know.
And if he continues to prove he's not worth it as he has for 3 years now, the team is stuck with him. It could work out if he gets a lot better, but there's quite a bit of risk to locking up a bad player long term
Luka and Trae both signed full 5 year max rookie extensions, again I don’t know what you are talking about.
Glad both deals are done. Don't have to listen to all the blah blah blah. Time for the game to begin.
I can’t answer your question, but I still feel like this is a weird twilight zone moment. I bet you if I did a search on “Jalen Green Bust” we would have 10+ pages of deep thoughts and enthralling gems about the topic. For the record I agree with you.
