My hat is off to Stone, Eli Witus, the front office, ownership - and to Alpi for taking a discount

As a Rockets fan - well done.

And I hope people appreciate that Alpi took a massive discount. He is better than the guys from his class who got a max deal.

Max deal is his market value. Alpi has shown his commitment to Houston. Houston should show him love.

    True franchise player.

And we thought Daryl Morey was a great GM for a time.

Stone has been impressive so far.

Nice work Stone! Now use the room Sengun and Green gave you to lock up FVV for a couple additional seasons.

Not just Stone, but ownership did good by making sure they locked up these 2 young up and coming players. They can grow into something special.

Yes, this is a tremendous day.

No worrying about this stuff. For Sengun, even if he never improves, the deal is fine.

For Green, The deal is just right and make sure that he stays motivated over the next three years.

And even if it came to it, both players have trade value down the line.

@BimaThug What does it look like for us now over the next couple years if we package Dillon+Jeff+Jock+Tate and assets for someone?

I don’t view FVV and Dillon as anything more than (but definitely sorely needed) transitional players to help ground the culture and bring some experience and leadership to the locker room.

That being said FVV is still critical. We don’t have a PG we can trust to run the offense outside of him.

Stone is that guy. He turned this thing around fast compared to other rebuilds. He gives a volatile player a volatile contract and the consistent player the longer commitment. At worst Alpie in 5 years is what he is today. Jalen can dictate his future and there is room to keep resigning core players, hunt for stars and still have a full magazine in trade assets. This is best case scenario land from a front office perspective.

This is more of a discount than I expected Sengun would give. That said, I think the cap flexibility was always way over-rated as I thought operating as an above the cap team was likely better.

I'm still not in the "I trust Stone" and "Stone is the guy" camp, but these two extensions are good deals for the Rockets. Great job by Stone.

With Udoka setting the culture in the locker room and on the court without interference, I'm now fine with Stone as GM.

I feel obliged to point out that Morey took this franchise to the WCF twice.

Not saying Stone can't - that's his bar to reach Morey. Hopefully this is another step in that direction.

It's nice to see how much love Stone gets here without any playoff appearances. Let's change that.

The Rockets just gave Sengun a player option and Green a player option and less than max years. These are moves made to help the Rockets win before Sengun has a chance to exercise his player option, IMO.

Maybe Brooks gets traded. maybe the Rockets find a better option than FVV. However, the two extensions today were about winning with this group or players sooner rather than later.

I'm primarily giving props to Stone from the front office. I know people like to give Eli credit for everything good Stone does but I think we can all agree contract structure and negotiations is a Stone specific skill.

I also give props to Sengun for taking the discount but I don't think he takes this deal if he didn't get injured last year. At the end of the day he and his agents did what they thought was in his best interests.
