Yup. Anyone who thinks Suggs is more valuable than Green is clueless about the NBA. Suggs is good defender whose size limits his defensive upside. He was overpaid due to fit.
We don’t know how the negotiations went. What you said could very well be true of course. OR Rox did offer same annual salary for 5 years, but Jalen is banking on himself and wants to make max money in two years.
Green doing a deal that makes him a UFA quickly makes me think he doesn't plan on being here long-term.
Has been dead F'n wrong about Green but thinks the deal Green got based on the potential any non-hater could see is reasonable.
Agreed. The player friendly part is the salary per year, which is why I said that part is an overpay. The team friendly part is the length of the contract. Overall it is a fair deal for both sides. This is not some controversial take, it’s common sense. Just like the time I said I like Jabari and he can become a high level role player and then @Houston77 started freaking out about how dare I not see the superstar potential in a 20 year old.
That's not what you said. You said his ceiling is a high level role player, which is a moronic take when discussing a 20 year old. Whether or not Bari works out, that statement was stupid.
Team aside, which is a different discussion (I’m not advocating to trade Jalen for Suggs), those stats that you quote has Jalen at -0.7 epm vs +3.0 for Jalen Suggs. EPM measures how a player impacts winning, aka the only thing that matters and how “good” he is, which is why I said Suggs is a far better player, at least currently.
I really don't see the upside on this deal. If Green becomes great, you want the full 5 years, and not 2 or 3 years. If you aren't sure if he's going to be great, wait until RFA or get a discount. Maybe there are other moves that getting Green locked in at the under $33M next season depend on. On the plus side, it delays when the Rockets have to make a decision on Green by 2 or 3 years. I am glad that the player option getting declined wouldn't allow Green to sign for 30% of the cap. I just think at the end of the year odds are good the Rockets would prefer to offer him the rookie extension max to get that 5th year over this deal or to have a lower AAV than this deal.
You are actually r****ded. Go read what I said again, I said the years is team friendly, the salary per year is player friendly(aka overpay). That’s the definition of win win. Dumbass.
It's called betting on yourself. You realize Luka and Trae Young signed a similar deal? So you are telling me Luka wanted that longer contract on smaller salary and the Mavs said no?
The Spurs were smart to rest their starters, that good game against the Spurs bench unit was enough for the Rockets to lock down a bad player long term.
