Found it, this is inexcusable. And no one helps Stroud up. Idk if these guys have an issue with CJ or what, but it seems like it because they just let them go untouched especially on Kenyon and Tunsil’s side. Kenyon is always lost, he never knows who to block. I’m not sure if this is a coaching issue, a talent issue, or they’re sending CJ a message.
Wow...............the OL was just horrible. You can't just bench everyone, I think we're stuck with these 5 for now with maybe a minor adjustment but unless something major happens, we might be screwed. Is it coaching, is it hustle, is it mentality or all of the above. We have no DAWGS on the O Line and if we cut one of them today, I would not be mad
To top things, there is no leader. Usually its the center but ours is in his first year healthy. Tunsil is at the Dior looking for some new heat
I really thought KENDRICK GREENE played better last yr. I think they are giving Kenyon Green every opportunity
That sht yesterday was reminiscent of the Houston Texans OL circa 2002 --- such a sunk cost that you lose nothing by firing the OL coach, demoting Green, or even sending a guy to IR with "Injury" DeMeco needs to send a message ... most depressing aspect is that now instead of having to do minor maintenance on that unit to keep this thing headed in the right direction a complete overhaul of the personnel and philosophy has to be one of the most pressing concerns moving forward beyond this year. SMH.
What message does Ryans need to send? What can be done in season? I've got thoughts but would like to hear yours.
What I would do is counterintuitive. Im not sure why Tytus has lost his bounce. He's slow off the edge and his mechanics are waning. I would send Tytus to LG to work alongside Tunsil and I would start Blake Fisher at RT. A more palatable and less invasive "fix" would be inserting either Kendrick Green or Patterson at LG and giving that a week or two. I dont think there is any way you can be taken seriously as a coach when you have all the data you need to tell you that you are starting one of IF NOT THE WORST OG in the sport and then do nothing about it while your star QB is getting beat to ****.
It's not all on Kenyon but a lot of it is. Is Kenyon unteachable, I'm beginning to think he is. My solution is to put Kendrick at LG and Mason is good but as he gets older he's not good for a whole game. I would play Patterson in his place every 3rd series or so. That way Mason should be fresh at the end of games.
Im for it - DO SOMETHING! You know what irks me beyond all possible explanation beyond the interior woes? These guys are looking directly in the face of 7&8 man fronts and our T/TE are giving away free rush lanes from the outside to block ghosts on the interior. Why is that? Could they already be subconsciously accounting for inside pressure? It was remarkable watching football 101 go out of the window yesterday.
I'm out of town and will be in later tonight, so I didn't get to watch the game. Sounds like they think they can teach Kenyon up and that looks to be mistake. Seems like the communication between the OL was really bad. I wonder how much of this falls on the OL calls? I'm guessing that Scruggs is making those? If so the answer might be putting Patterson at C and Scruggs at LG.
The inability to account for basic twist stunts among the IOL is dumbfounding. Guys are just not aware and the communication is bad. Center is usually the captain of that unit and having a rookie there may be part of the problem. Not sure Patterson would be better in read and recognition of the defense, but at least they appear to be better competitors when given a chance. To cut the OL some slack I also think the RBs are blowing blocking assignments like crazy.
Stop the condensed formations, multiple TEs, which brings sometimes 10 different players up to the LOS near the OL. Try more spread personal groups and give Mixon space to do what he do.
and TEs.... Schultz & Cade missed blocking assignments. I think it is because the play call is getting in late & guys are rushing rather than accounting for their assignments. They are professionals and we should expect better. But it would explain some of it.... not why Howard just fell down, but that's a thing now as well.
