When it comes to voting the picture is pretty clear that Republicans prefer voting for the white Caucasian over anyone else most of the time. Education, experience, and integrity don't mean crap to most of them. When's the last time Republicans had a woman or person of color as their Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate? Never.
So 16 years ago John McCain selected a woman as his VP. Good for him. No wonder Trump and MAGA hate that guy. But, they never endorsed a woman for President and never a person of color as President or Vice President.
It's pretty ridiculous when people say things like we've never had a female president because of sexism. Im not just reacting to your post, it's been a common comment since Harris has been running. It wasn't a common comment when Mrs Clinton ran. It's ridiculous because we know our history and we should acknowledge our evolution. Mrs Clinton got more votes than a man. Yes the Republican party today was defined by the anti Civil Rights Democrats who defected from the Democratic party to the Republican party. There certainly is that legacy. That being said as far as race is concerned, Blacks will be Democrats for a long time because of the history. Republican is the party for racists but they are drawn to the overall less government conservatism.
His accomplishments have been incredible. Chips act, infrastructure bill, lowering insulin, dude has been amazing and economy is booming. DD
Agreed on all that. My thought was, he is that dude at the party. Very engaging, very likeable, very bright., very handsome, Who doesn't want to hear the "Corn Pop" story. And then he had that one cocktail too many and things changed. This does not diminish his accomplishments in any way. He is just stayed at the party too long. But for all of the good he did, and all of the bad that the Trump has done, it's any bodies race to win.
I don't agree. There are still a huge portion of Americans who haven't accepted women as being as capable or smart as men as leaders. We are behind many other developed countries in that type thinking. We are making big strides though, but you have to be honest about which party accepts women and minorities much more than the other when choosing a leader or representative for their district, state, or in a national election.

Republicans choose Trump because they believe he can win. He's still the only one they coalesce around.
Maybe it's because they identify with and approve of his his sick mentality. Nothing else makes sense.
