To be fair only 8 guys that averaged 2 or more blocks per game. But, Sengun only averaged 0.7. Even VanVleet had more blocks per game than that. In preseason even Sheppard had 3 blocks to Sengun's 1 block. I doubt Sengun's ever going to be a the kind of shot blocker a lot of centers are.

The way they utilize Sengun on defense is going to limit blocks outside of outright blocking the dude you are defending. Elite shot blockers don't get most of their blocks from the dude they are guarding. They are roamers almost always getting blocks playing help defense. Jabari has more of that role on this team.

Watching Sengun this preseason especially the last game, he plays awkwardly off balance like Embidd, always hitting the floor at a weird angle. . It’s at the point I don’t even want him to go contest heavily for the block because he’s clumsily.

I'm pretty sure the weird angles are on purpose to get a clean look without getting blocked. He seems to have great touch at the rim on those attempts anyways. So obviously balanced enough to efficiently score at the rim.

I’m moreso talking about him on defensive end. He doesn’t have soft landings

To be really fair, VanVleet averaged more blocks per game than the majority of the damn NBA. :D

Also, for anyone that watched Chuck Hayes or any Spo team, there are more ways to defend the rim than above the rim shot-blocking.

You're right, at least 1blk ppg on average. 2blks ppg is asking a much from him. But I need him to be more assertive either beyond the 3pt line or in the paint. Those fakes only lead to 2pts, I need more 3pt fgs from him and to be more dominant down low on the defensive end. He tends to wear down as the game goes on, especially in the 4th qtrs.

Jalen has everything physically, it's just a matter of him putting it together....consistency!

Points comparison between Sengun and Jalen needs further look because Sengun does not score as much since he mostly scores within the set plays. Jalen shoots more often and is more of a one on one player that does not wait for the set plays to develop before he takes long range shots or drives by himself. A lot of high scorers did not lead their teams to actual success. So the jury is still on Jalen and I hope his scoring will be much more efficient and consistent this season, and that would help the team be successful whatever the goals are of the top brass of the team.

To be fair, San Antonio didn't play their starters, so it could have been a let down. I just need to see more from Sengun when the season starts

If JG makes it easy on himself and knocks down the open shots created off of Alperen’s constant double teams, we are golden. Everything else will follow for everyone. Then when JG gets rolling, Alperen’s game starts to open up again.

Offensively, JG and Alperen were made in a lab for each other. I really do think they can lead a top 5-10 offense one day…

I wouldn't go that far. LOL. He averaged 0.8 and was #43, Jabari #45, Sengun #54, and Thompson #75. Yeah, I agree there are other ways to defend the rim, but shot blocks are fun to watch. Kinda like slam dunks are fun to watch but I'd rather have a guy with a great FG % than a guy who looks cool making some shots. I'm hoping to see Sengun averaging 10 or more rebounds per game, and shooting 74% FT this year. I'd like to see Jalen averaging at least a 45% FG and 36% from behind the arc. That would be awesome.

40 pt performance over slender man doesn't sway you. But a better a performance in a preseason game where they play 24 minutes would totally get you on board. Mhhmm

You mean high scorers like Jordan, Kobe and Curry?

Offense is nice but I don't want to become Sacramento. I've always compared Sengun to Sabonis, a skilled big who is good on offense but average at best defensively, teamed with a good guard.

Maybe Stephen Adams gives us that balance

Sabonis can't score 1 on 1 unless he has a big mismatch, Sengun can

Really depends upon how he plays.

If he gives a repeat performance of last year, I think you call them up and work out a S&T .... just to get something in return.

If he plays well ..... maybe you don't even let it get to the point of an offer from elsewhere.

Phil Jackson made Jordan tone down his scoring and play more within the team concept. Jordan could score at will against any team but the Bulls were not as successful when Jordan was always doing the scoring. He played within the set triangle offense. Kobe was nowhere near Jordan in scoring. Curry's scoring bursts are timed to make runs and during runs. He makes his teammates do the scoring first and he picks his spots. The three you mentioned were the extraordinary ones. Have you heard of Bernard King of the Knicks? And many more like him? Carmelo Anthony? Harden? How many championships has he had? Even Durant. He only won a ring when he played for the already dynastic Warriors.

Here you go! He does everything Sengun does but after little quicker.
