He hosts the Locked on Packers podcast. Not sure why so many Packers fans feel the need to discount CJ. It's like they think CJ is stealing shine away from Jordan Love or something. This is what Love's 4th season? I don't get the comparison. They're both awesome QBs in their own way.
ESPN just put up at stat that the Texans are 75% in the red zone tied with Baltimore for best in the NFL. I think they said Stroud has thrown to 7 different receivers for red zone TDs. CJs decision making is off the charts. If we could just get even average IOL play, we’d see the fireworks we’ve all been waiting on.
Dude needs to save himself by reading defenses and being able to change plays at the line of scrimmage. Can't depend on the OC anymore, all the good ones get snatched up for HC positions or the mediocre ones like Slowik will hold him back. CJ needs to progress like Brady, Manning, Rodgers where they are the OC on the field.
Without question he has to play better but he still put us in position to win that game. Defense couldn't hold on that last possession but they were also shorthanded. With all the injuries to both sides of the ball, we put up a good fight. No moral victories, and we should have won it, but I'm not down on this team like most are. Still 5-2 and we haven't played our best. Plus, its always comes down to who playing their best late.
Does anyone notice CJ making any sort of pre snap adjustments to blocking serious question? I know he likes to call out his hots and get on the same page with receivers before the snap, but being able to modify the blocking assignments at the line and understand what is coming is going to be a huge part of his evolution. Not sure I see him killing plays and going with audibles either.
No I don't think I've seen him do this. Probably what he needs to work on next. This is the most he's been blitzed and because of the protection (assignments), he didn't have his best game. He's not a finished product, of course, so maybe that's what they work on next. How many false starts did we have this game?
None. Team as a whole had only 5 penalties. https://www.nflpenalties.com/game/houston-texans-at-green-bay-packers-10-20-2024#google_vignette
I might be wrong. But if I remember it correctly, in Shanahan's style west coast offense, QB does not call the protection, Center does.
Teams now understand how to defend the Shanahan system. Stroud needs to stop waiting for down field routes to get open when you only have less than 2 seconds to throw the ball. Can we throw a slant? Maybe a screen here and there.
