I wanted Devin Carter. The surgery thing would have been messed up but that's sports. We're gonna have to wait a season anyway for Sheppard to get ready.
The kid, like most players just coming out of a draft, is young and is not NBA physical ready. The days of 5'10-6'0 pg being a normal height is gone. He will need to bulk up and gain strength to compete. He will be fine.
I think you are judging too quickly. Any opinion on how fast he develops is just a wild guess. My wild guess is he'll be an effective member of the rotation no later than midseason. It will take some time for things to slow down for him.
Reed Sheppard is the Vipers franchise player™ Spoiler Duo gonna set the GL on fire! Vipers season begins November 9th at home vs Memphis Hustle
I wanted Connect because he was cheaper and could of gotten a lower draft pick with it. He could of been a replacement for Chandler Bang. Instead we might of gotten Matt Maloney. I want to be wrong.
Per Feigen article. “I liked it,” Rockets coach Ime Udoka said. “I think we specifically looked at (Eason) and Amen together, especially when we had Fred and Reed out there with those two a lot, and then (with) Steven (Adams, the Rockets’ second-team center.) We tried to match some size, athleticism and all that with the smaller backcourt and obviously, Steven adds to that as well. I like what I saw with them. “You add Amen to that group and then some really good defenders with size behind the smaller guards and wanted to get a look at it. Like what we saw.” I'm really looking forward to seeing if Amen and Adams work well with FVV and Reed. I'd like Jabari and Cam as other options for more offense over Tari. I like the Tari option for the defense, though. I'd also like Sengun getting some run to see how he does with a more spaced out court.
Well, he hasn't blown the doors off, but Matt Maloney? Seriously? We're a long way from declaring him that. He's done a lot of positive things, and hasn't made a lot of mistakes. This isn't a typical 3rd pick scenario where the offense is catered to him getting a lot of shots (a la Jalen Green in the Silas era). I wish we'd seen more of the promised 3pt shooting and range, but it's still very early. Frankly, I thought we'd have seen him more often in the Eric Gordon/Ryan Anderson deep elbow three point range to spread the floor, but the offense hasn't put him there. He's being used as a facilitating point guard, and that's largely what we've seen him do.
I'm ok with the pick cuz the Rockets needed a shooter and RS is a good fit for the team but personally I had Zacharie Risacher and Stephon Castle higher than Sheppard. Castle also looks like he grew a bit more during the summer he looks taller than 6'4 Jalen Green now. I'm hoping RS has a growth spurt like Sengun cuz 5'1.75 with trex arms is the reason why he can't get his shot off cleanly against NBA competition.
He has been facilitating cuz he has been missing his 3s. Thats like his cope. We drafted him to be a sharpshooter and zone buster. We have FVV, Amen and JG to facilitate.
Didn’t like the fact that I didn’t see any fight in Reed last night. He just wanted to blend in. The key for Jalen to me is how he performs when the shot is not falling and he’s getting roasted on defense. Will he turtle or fight. I like his calm and collected demeanor now, seems like the game is finally slowing down for him. But will he still keep it together and not panic when things aren’t going his way. He will have leveled up if he can stay cool under pressure.
Shooting consistency is obviously still undetermined because we need a decent sample size of regular season games to make that judgement but I think Green being a no effort sulking defender when he isn't scoring (sort of like Cam last night) is a thing of the past for him. I'll be severely disappointed if he regresses at that element.
