The thing is people like him and me agree that Jalen is on the clock this season. I think you don't understand we disagree with HOW you criticize Green and we think it's a bit trivial.
Facts - he wasn’t amazing in any game so far. I got flashes of being smarter and potential improvements towards consistency though. All in all a good starter finally in 4 years is what he’s projecting towards right now. I’m just worried that this will be enough for his stans to sell him to us like the second coming of christ, given how many chances he’s been given compared to most folks in the NBA and how entitled his fanbase has been so far. Passable looks great on him - that’s how bad he’s been during some stretches last two years.
He absolutely ate bro at the 53second mark. My favorite play was probably the cut and pass from Steven. Hope to see more of that this year from Jalen for easy shots at the rim.
And the "great" ones will say it was just a preseason game against scrubs. Won't be about efficiency. Not when it doesn't fit...
Fantastic game for him & I think he needed it for the confidence factor. Nope, we all know he's capable of games like this. We also know that shooting .538 from distance is unsustainable. All the haters are asking for is Jalen to eliminate the .175 next 3 games. we'll settle for .333.
My favorite is the DHO out at the three point line between Sengun and Green where Sengun hands off, Green rejects Sengun's screen, makes defender stumble backwards, one dribble smooth effortless balanced three. Those are the quality threes he needs to take. So many things you can do out of a Green Sengun DHO.
He sulked, he didn't even try, just passed the ball around, to me he looked like a petulant kid who has just been told he is out of the rotation. Just my .02. as I was sitting a few rows behind their bench tonight. DD
Dude you're still just describing an average. He doesn't have an especially high volume of bad shooting games compared to people who shoot the same % as him. He's just shooting poorly and honestly you posted so much this summer these "tiers" of bad games from him as though it's something new. It used to be two issues: shot selection and defense. Now he's shocked us with his defense. Nearly average defense by year 3 was nobody's expectation for a scrawny SG with no fundamentals. All that remains is shot selection. More accurately, it's just the mix of shots. Fewer long range. More rim attacks. It's not a coincidence that dude I replied to was confused by your post. When you describe the issue, you intentionally or unintentionally make it seem like several major problems exist in his game and that things are barely salvageable. "43 games under 17%!!!!" You know why this is confusing? Because you don't then bring in Jimmy Butler and Ja Morant's worst 43 games from 3 as a comparison. That's what allows us to understand the size of the problem. Instead, your posts make it look like he's in some boat from which no one has ever been saved. Again, maybe unintentional, but extremely poor representation of the cause of the problem and major exaggeration of the symptoms. Luckily my takes are labeled in organized chapters you can go and see where I predicted the dips and the highs. Or did you think I was saying he's already a superstar from day 1? Maybe you didn't read the posts. The one place I majorly mispredicted is his second season I thought we would try to win and thus he'd begin to take off. Turns out they wanted to install more bad habits in him for an extra year. Have admitted this many times. On the flip side, I predicted every single major outbreak in every season. During the worst stretch of his entire career, I told you he's about to break out bigger than ever. I bet you wouldn't have believed that either. This is the straw man @fchowd0311 is alerting you about - when you act like Jalen fans like his output so far. There's dozens and dozens of posts from me about when he'll struggle, why he'll struggle, how frustrated I am with his shot selection, I'm unhappy with his inefficiency, that he will struggle for roughly the first 30 games of last season (ended up being more like 45 games big whoop). I've already said he has till before the deadline or it's over for him this season - word for word I said ROCKETS COME FIRST. What will I say if it doesn't work out? I'll say I was wrong. I'll ask you: can you see the clear evidence that Jalen is about to take a significant step up in the league? Because on that I'm not guessing or being optimistic. I'm making an actual prediction about whether he'll take better shots or not. Tell us: will he improve his shot selection the way you believe he should? Yes or no?
Meh...mixed bag. Numbers say he dropped off offensively but defensively he is among the better ones in Preseason.
I don't know what's going on with Cam, he looked bad out there and it feels like he may be the odd man out in terms of minutes early in the season. Looked frustrated from the get go. Hope it was a one-off. We need him to be that explosive scorer off the bench.
You dont owe these vultures any explanations my guy. This whole time they've been reading the book of Revelations over two more made shots per week. Now they sliding into the circle trying to hit the Rillo! Time to write the next chapter!
Jalen had 4 turnovers in the 1st quarter of the first game of pre-season. Only 3 in the last 15 quarters! I know this is an indicator of more an off-ball role (only 4 assist total, as well), but cool nonetheless.
3/4 good preseason games for JG. 20.5 PPG - 3.3 RPG - 1 APG -1.8 TOV - 44% from the field and 43% from 3 and most importantly on only 24ish minutes per game. Outside of the Thunder game where we didn't have our full lineup and they just outplayed us, he looked really good. Biggest takeaway was how he was hitting his wide open 3s which was such a struggle last year and I don't think he took many "bad Jalen" shots. If any. Onto the regular season.
