He needs to shoot better threes.

I agree with the Turk - we don't want all three going into the same "penetrating canal".

He looks very smooth and very aware out there. Some great visions and reads paired with some very good anticipation and quick hands. I am not worried about his shot, because his form is pure as hell. For whatever reason all great shooters seem to struggle the 1st year. It will come around and he will be a 40% shooter soon enough.

It's below sea level causing our shooting woes. It feels like the court is in a basement

It's the humidity. Ball don't fly right...it's flies a little to the left.

He has exceptional feet. He can move them very well in tight spaces and is nimble - also I can see how he can be hard to guard, his feet don't give away what he is going to do - he is a soccer player like that - he operates so well in tight spots, keeps his dribble alive and is a gifted passer. As a defender you cannot just stay in front of him to slow him down because he uses screens so well, and he can shoot from distance - has an excellent tear drop and the vertical to eventually finish well inside. He isn't going to ever be Harden, he doesn't draw contact like that - but he can be a pretty good scorer with his ability to attack at multiple levels, his dexterity and shooting.

He's very much more in the CP3 mold than the Harden mold

I really wonder if this is just a mistranslation or is the expression "penetrating canal" commonly used in Turkish in the context of basketball. Can one of the Turkish speaking posters here clarify? I'm losing sleep over this matter.

Always liked that about Steve Nash. He wouldn’t force a layup either. He’d get all the way to the rim, be underneath it and somehow still pull back out to the top of the key to run a play.

(And disclaimer because we’re on CF I’m not saying he’s Steve Nash)

I'm still worried about the three. Is he rushing it or is it hard for him to get the shot off?

I understand he's playing as a PG but I wish he would call his own number more. There are many times he dribbles the ball up, looks to me like he has space, but then sets up a play rather than shoot the three. If he has space, then I want him to shoot that three sometimes, as a threat to the defense and to see if he can make it. If he can make those types of threes at a 40% clip then he should shoot that shot a lot.

I'm gonna need a long, long sample before I start becoming really concerned that he's not gonna be a great 3 pt shooter in the NBA. Including SL we're talking 6 total games of struggles after his hot debut, not even on high volume. I can guarantee I can find multiple 15-20 shot stretches where Curry shot extremely poorly.

Of all the potential problems I could be seeing from him so far, it is near the bottom of the list in terms of concern.

I am Turkish (@KingCheetah ) - What he actually said is: "There are too many guys pounding the balls and trying to penetrate his canal at the sametime so balls get sticky"... he also said that is called a "Turkish Delight".

At least you guys have migrated from asking if he’s a point guard to now asking if he can…shoot?

I think it's still just nerves, if he's still shooting poorly from 3 in January, then we'll have a different conversation
