Im sorry I just dont see him as better than Amen or Tari. We wont know unless the other two are given that chance. I just dont understand why the spot by default goes to Jabari. I thought we stopped the default stuff when Silas left.

 

well good thing there was a debate tonight and he wasn’t in the Toyota Center.

 

Cam has all the ability in the world, but his game is extremely immature. What concerns me a little is that they don't really seem to be trying to reign it in that much. It's almost like they want him to play that way. He doesn't look much different than he did last year. I really thought Udoka would have made him a more disciplined player by now, but he is still very young. Maybe he'll get there.

 

Maybe in spot minutes but not to the extent he is taking JG's spot.

 

I meant he is nowhere ready to replace JG as the other poster was implying.

 

I am very concerned with Cam Whitmore. Talent wise he is top 5 but mentality wise he is worse than a GLeaguer.

I dont mind the tunnel vision but the selfish brand of basketball is what is alarming to me. Dude doesnt move his ass unless he is getting the ball. On defense he can only do man to man and rarely covers for his teammates. Everytime Whitmore enters the game unless he is in super saiyan mode I know we will start losing point differential.

He said his idol is Melo and that is unfortunate because Melo is one of the biggest NBA losers of all time, all about scoring pts with no concept of playing winning basketball.

Once regular season starts I can see Whitmore falling out of the rotation entirely.

Coaches usually play only 9 guys max in a normal game, very rare you have 10 and if that happens the coach is just looking for the hot hand. If he keeps his bad mindset I can Whitmore getting nailed to the bench all season long.

 

Rook is already performing like a 10-yr vet with the media! He got all the meaningless cliches down! Can’t wait for season to start, to learn how it is "all about execution"…

 

He's perfect for his right now ''Vinny microwave chuck Barkley/Melo'' bully ball bucket getter shot taker.... especially with the current bench mob (or whatever Hollins calls them), Cam is capable of 15-20pts off bench, that is value for any team

No need to reign him in completely, but he did make a couple good passes so he is progressing somewhat

Cam is doing exactly what I expected, its his game/style

Ime will get him straight but nobody can work magic in one year, by year 3/4 Whitmore will come around, or be packaged for something useful, being his stock should still be high

I would resign him, and the rest of the six

 

Well, at least Melo won with Syracuse and the National team at the Olympics.

NBA is great and all but Basketball does not end with the NBA due to Basketball being a Global sports and layered sports.

That is only to the Fairweather NBA fans out there. Carmelo was only a Tier 2 star ......

People were just disappointed because they think Scoring is everything, well, it is not.......scoring has lost its importance.....

 

I see where you coming from, but just remember and it never fails....... The injury bug from a long 82 game haul

Which this Rockets team is built for it......don't want to see any players go down but the young guns are more important than the vets (long term)

Ime is from the Pop tree, he may go 10 man rotation.......... TBD

 

FT shooting has to improve, for the rest I saw a lot of good in the highlights, passing in particular.

 

I'm watching the replay and just realised Reed moved to Texas and immediately grew a Mexican moustache. Respect!

 

Day after thoughts:

Good:

1) Jalen best game of pre-season and mature game over all. Didn't press, let the game come to him and took the right avenues. NOP doesn't have a true rim protector which he exposed. Can he make it two in a row?

2) Reed is that guy. Shot didn't fall much after his initial burst but tends to always make the right play. Doesn't look like a rook at all. Not worried abt his 3 point makes.

3) FVV. When he's on the court this team functions. When he's off the court it's all hands on deck.

4) Dillon played well overall. Played the passing lanes well and man2man defense as well. Let's hope this is the version we get.

5) Adams. Pack your bags and your Fosters Landale it was nice knowing you.

Bad:

1) FT shooting. Wtf man.

2) Amen. More of a neutral game for him and he did make a 3 but I want to see more out of him offensively and two missed FTs. As always had a good defensive game.

3) Jabari. Defensively was quite good I thought and his passing is improved. He's a better connector than last year. But he still can't make his 3s, goes up weak and can't punish smaller guys. Concern level: 6/10 but rising.

4) Cam. 13/32 from the field and 3/14 from 3 this pre-season. 9/14 from the stripe. He's just forcing it and it shows. Can't break defenders down and ends up forcing bad shots.

 

Most fans only look at one side of the court. Jabari missed his 3’s. So did Sheppard, Cam, FVV, and Green. He had 10 rebounds and 5 assists and played very good defense in the first half. Somehow, he lost his aggression in the 2nd half. Jabari’s main weakness is a lack of confidence which also translates into a lack of focus. He was 5th in PF rebounding last year, he shot league average from 3 and plays good defense. He is still one of the youngest Rockets. People are being extremely impatient with this young team (it’s Pre-season for goodness sake).

 

What's to complain about after a 20 point win seriously? Only thing that really stood out to me was just how freaking deep this team is when everyone is at the top of their game. Its a real luxury. As long as Udoka doesnt go Doctor Strange with the lineups we should have a punchers chance this year.

 

I agree with everything except Brooks’ defense. He did have one of his better offensive games and seems to be going o the boards more aggressively, but he gambles too much on defense and gets blown away too often. Amen needs 30+ mins this year to be consistently great. I hope Brooks doesn’t block him from that.

Cam better get it together soon or he is going to be the odd man out.

 

There was one possession before a time out where Jabari got beat on defense and sulked. Took forever to get back on offense and Ime called an immediate time out. Noticed that as well.

 

I really think inserting Amen into the starting lineup alongside Jabari would take our defense and transition game to another level. Other teams would see their interior passing completely shut down.
