Good point. He's skilled enough to improve over time with the adjustment. I don't doubt that. I also like what I've seen with his passing and steals.

Absolutely....need a bigger sample size than 3 preseason games. I do get surprised at the selectivism sometimes....FVV was 1/7 (14%) from the field and 1/5 from 3 (20%) and had 5 pts. in the same amount of playing time as Jabari. He did CONTRIBUTE with 9 assts. Is he a bum...nope. Did he have a bad shooting night ? Yep. It happens...and. it'll get everyone pretty much at some time. just the way it is.

lol umm ok? Im not sweating anything. im trying to figure out why he is starting over others that desrve it more. i dont have a personal vendetta but this is basketball and i wanna know that my coaching staff makes the right decisions. if its something in practice fine but if he doesnt improve soon he needs to come off the bench.

OK.....if he doesn't improve his offense I'll be right there with sitting him or even trading him. Don't you think we ought to let him at least get to the regular season ? Who is it that you think is so much more deserving to start ? Amen ? The guy who can't shoot FT (0/4) outside shot (1/2..even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then ) 4 rebounds in 2 less minutes than Jabari. He's a great talent that can't hit FT and doesn't have an outside shot. If not him, then who else would we be talking about ?

I agree Whitmore is not impressing right now but I think the Rockets actually see FVV as a potential long term investment to actually win another Championship. If Sheppard steps up to be what he was drafted to be - an all around talent on both sides of the ball with a VERY high BBIQ and they don't have to pay Jalen this off-season because he's been traded it's a win-win in upgrading the talent and helping the long-term financials.

You know Amen is here to stay. Sheppard is here to stay. Sengun, probably here to stay. Jalen knows this already and he's got to elevate his game and keep it elevated to make the cut this year.

So you think FVV and Sheppard could be our franchise backcourt for a while? I don't necessarily disagree, but if that's the case, what are you trading Green towards? As you said, Amen is here to stay, as is Sengun. So, an upgrade at the 4? You could convince me.

FVV / Sheppard / Amen / Trade Target / Sengun

I do think it would be hard to trade for a major name without including FVV's salary, though not impossible.

Clang Sheppard and Cam Missmore are going to have enough bricks to build a 3 bedroom house before the season starts.

Sheppard cant do what JG can cuz he is too short. If you saw JG he was out there guarding BI on some positions due to switches. A backcourt of FVV and RS would be too much of a midget and would get exploited IMO.

The bigger issue to what you are saying is RS looks nowhere ready and they need to make a decision this offseason. Sheppard 1/5 from 3, Whitmore 0/3. No pressure on JG right now.

What do you mean, he looks nowhere ready? I think RS already looks ready to be our 7th man. He looks incredibly composed for his age. And I think a FVV / Sheppard back court could work with size in the front court. It works for the Cavs. They ranked sixth last season in defensive rating.

I could absolutely see the Rockets extending Green as well as opting out and extending FVV.

Reed contributes to winning more than Cam does at this point. Reed defends better - can play on and off ball - better instincts, better passer and shooter.

Cam has a shot to be really good, but he just doesn’t seem to see the game above 2-D a lot of times… it’s almost like he only played 21 growing up and not organized team ball.

I'd be more concerned if he only had 4 touches/post ups in his minutes played

I'm happy with what I've seen from Reed so far, but he's a long way away from starting. I'd like to see him be more aggressive in looking for his own shot (either 3 or mid-range). Curry, for example, even in college was able to get his own shot and even take over games.

Reed and FVV will play minutes together. There are size issues but matchups will exist for it to work.

Outside of Sengun, the other 3 need the reps, Bari for confidence and getting more shot opportunities ....

And I feel he left Sengun out there to get some burn from missing end of last season, and inclusive with what you stated about Ime experimenting lineups

There was an obvious reason Whitmore fell....not just bad attitude and injury story.

Tunnel vision and probably not the best fit in a team environment despite being an arguable Top 4 talent.

That's exactly the position I would target. I know this is a long shot but if Giannis were to become available I would offer Jalen, Jabari and the PHX picks and I have a hard time believing anyone could top that offer at this time.

    VanVleet / Sheppard / Amen / Giannis / Sengun

You still have Adams, Brooks, Eason and Whitmore to round out the bench with guys like Uncle Jeff and Holiday as backups.

It’s a tiny sample size and the Rockets believe he will contribute more than the other options during the season and had higher upside.

Jabari can be frustrating - he isn’t ever going to be a 25 point a game scorer and he has a little too much Harrison Barnes and Marvin Williams in his game - but he still has long term high level starter upside.
