They usually are either a stretch 5 or paint defender. Sengun is neither. But again he is in the NBA because he still has coveted skills and unique in terms of passing, handles, and dribble drive ability for a big.
If I dont spend a good 10 minutes stretching before and after my morning workout my L4 and L5 vertebrae say "Not Today"
I stretch for a good 20 minutes before my Sunday soccer games. If not, I'm useless. And then I manage to pull my hammy anyway.
you know, next to hydration, stretching is probably the Numero Dos secret to success. you might say it's . . . The Key to a Championship Formula
Out of the 30 NBA teams. Name the teams that actually have a stretch 5 (starting center). Is that the majority? I said stretch 5, not paint protector.
I hope Jalen plays well tonight, his fans are super down bad right now leading them to attack the best player on the roster. Just give them a crumb of hope so they calm down.
And I said that majority of starting centers aren't knock down 3pt shooters. At current time most don't stretch, even if it's a desirable trait, but most teams don't have them. People (fans) always make it like it's some kind requirement; but it doesn't match reality. A GM is more likely to find a spacer in a guard and wing than the 5. Down the road there may be more Bigs who do knock down 3's but it's not reality. Turner, Jokic, Porzingis are the exceptions than the rule.
Going off of eye test from first preseason game, if jalen has a 60+ TS% tonite...... they (jaterade drinkers) will be as quiet as all of Puffy love Combs guests on the Freakoff list
Who cares? 4 of the last 5 champions had C's who can play outside the paint. Jokic Lopez Draymond - not a stretch 5 but never in the post/paint Porzingis We would only compare to the whole league if we wanted to be average.
Where are these replacement SGs you speak of? We have a lot of wingish and PF guys for sure and we have a few guys who can only play the PG because of his size. Cam is really the only one who has the size and can shoot well enough to play SG and if you thought Green was a poor facilitator, let me introduce you to Mr. Whitmore....I mean I love spark plug Cam and he can put the ball in the hoop but he didn't really do too much to dispel the narrative that he gets buckets and that's about it. Defensively he tries on ball, but he is still fairly apathetic at anything off ball - defending or rebounding. PG - FVV, Reed, and Holiday can only play here because of size SG - Jalen and Cam SF - Amen/Tari/Cam/Tate/even Bari PF - Bari/Sengun/Tari/Amen/Tate C - Sengun/Adams/Landale
Comparing Sengun to Randle is like comparing Hitler to Mandela. It's actually worse because Hitler and Mandela both were right-handed.
Before talking about championships let's try to make the play in first. Everyone on the team should try to improve their 3's, but for a center it's not a requirement. Advantages and disadvantage among NBA teams are relative. 3's are important, we (Rockets) even popularized it. It's supply and demand. For these type of centers it's just limited supply. If over 3/4 NBA teams don't have them, then what? Most current NBA teams can't do true 5 out. Most team's lead slashers also make due with their 1-2 non-shooters on the floor. It's not uncommon. If the slashers struggles, then it's on the slasher to git gud.
