This thread is going to be laughed at in 3 years when the Rockets have re-signed Franchise players Sengun, Green, and Tari to max contractswhile franchise players FVV has to leave due to capspace, franchise player Brooks is pouting to get a new extension, and the Rockets need to figure out how to pay franchise player Amen and Sheppard as they are looking to get paid, with franchise player Jack McVeigh feeling disrespected.

We're capable of winning 11 games with him not playing, he's not

11 games in a row with him out isn't a endorsement as the franchise. He just had 2 years offensively. The team played better WITHOUT him

C'mon, I get that you have almost nothing to go on and you are grasping for straws, but literally no one believes that narrative.

Why not talk about how the Rockets won 7 in a row behind Gary Bird and Christian Wood?

There has never been a time in Sengun's career that he was a net negative for the team when on the court over the course of the season.

There has never been a time in Jalen Green's career that he was a net positive for the team when on the court over the course of a season.

Talking about the 11 games within the 8 game hot shooting streak of Jalen Green as "evidence" that the team is better off without Sengun is flat out dumb and I refuse to believe literally anyone here is that feeble minded.....so just stop.

These were annoying before they were annoying.
But to be fair and I hate to say it, they kept us busy and hating throughout the long offseason. So...theres that.

Random thought maybe we need a coach that can put ALL the players together into one scheme getting the best out of each of them. Mike D’Antoni revolutionize the league , three different times. Taking what was in front of him and making art (chicken salad). We all need to stop thinking this player can only play one way and that player can’t play with one. I know coaches have different gifts but maybe it’s time to bring in an offensive coordinator type.

The original "franchise player" thread was started about our actual franchise player Alpi by @AroundTheWorld . The others are poor attempts to mock the original and I agree they are aggravating. Some may think ATW started that thread too soon but Alpi continues to prove he was spot on to start it. Alpi's doubters are few and far between these days.

First off, why are you bringing up Jalen Green? I just mentioned us winning 11 games in a row without Sengun & a few other players and you came in whining about Jalen. Back to Sengun..There is no indication Sengun's going to lead us anywhere. He has good post moves but slows the offense down which affects the team. If we want to play faster it'll be with a stretch big that'll open up the lanes and Sengun's not that guy

Oh, am I supposed to pretend that wasn't what you were trying to say? Okay, I'll play along.

Why whine about Sengun not being a stretch 5 when we don't even have a shooting guard who can shoot?

Isn't it good enough that Sengun is the best player on the team?

It’s ridiculous for fans of player x getting upset, when player y who is also on the Rockets just had a good game. It’s almost like folks take it personal that another Rocket player showed up their favorite to become the Franchise player. I get it there are grown men/ some women who are fascinated with their hand picked franchise selection.

Any time I come here every thread is blah blah is the franchise player. Seems all other topics are none to be found.

I’m an old timer, we knew how to keep topic relevant to keep everyone engaged. I start very few threads, because you can typically put your idea or comment on one already on the current topics. But there is nothing but “I’m fanboy of such player”. I’m not inclined to participate in *NSYNC/Backstreet boys fandom drama like some particularly thrive.

These core 7 guys all have potential to be great but also could flounder within the next 3 years. We don’t know if they will seize their opportunity, but it’s apparent they all have God given ability. I can tell you that I will root for the guys that take advantage of their opportunities, and won’t disparage the other fellas.

Hence let’s root for the team, and make the fan base strong and united.

Never forget this fan base was instrumental in keeping this Team from moving to Louisville, Kentucky. The old timers especially Jeff, Clutch, Popey, the Cabbage, etc rallied the troop of super fans. And that is why the Rockets are still here in Houston.

The "core 7" are not the same at all.

This is a ridiculous statement: "all have potential to be great but also could flounder within the next 3 years"

Simple question: Out of these 7, as of today, who do you think gets the max on the free market, if any team could sign that guy for the max?

Let me tell you: Only one of them.

So you are saying you think the Rockets management is too incompetent to do their job. After all, they see the players at practice every day, have them do the drills, dissect their skills, etc; but a random fan uses his/her version of their gut intuition to determine the franchise player!

Why alienate fans who don’t care who is anointed the franchise player by fans, but are eagerly watching to see which players become a Franchise player by their production.

No. The question about a max contract didn't call for action until now at the earliest. There are plausible salary cap reasons to wait until next year.

If you feel alienated by a fan stating his opinion, maybe this site isn't for you.

I disagree with Op's premises. It's great to have those franchise players thread because people discuss topics about the players in their respective players' thread, instead of having thousand of topics about the same players all over the places. Also, It's okay to follow the Rockets because you like the whole team, the organization, certain player, or even the dancers. America is a relatively free country afterall.

Maybe but it shows there is a lack of creativity with all threads having similar names......

Nah, this site is definitely for him, dude is iconic in his own way.

There are thousands of lurkers here who do not partake in these threads, and are welcome in this forum.

Diversity should be celebrated and not stymied.
