I’m not sure what you’re arguing here. You’re criticizing Biden yet his launch took place under Biden. You’re criticizing delays yet in your response right above you state that errors do happen which would be the reason for delays and for regulation to limit the possibility of those errors. You go on to make some tangential rant about supporting decaying institutions. What institutions are those?
@Scarface281 didn't artifculate it well. He's just saying that most fires are started by humans, which is true. Historically, 85-90% of wildfires in California are caused by human activity—discarded cigarettes, power lines, equipment use, arson, campfire accidents, etcs. What he overlooks is that droughts (drier conditions) make these fires spread faster and farther. Droughts aren't constant; they come and go. California, like much of the Southwest, IS seeing higher temperatures and more frequent and longer droughts. The broader context is typically missing from his posts. As for Trump’s claim about withholding aid to California, anyone familiar with him should know better than to trust what he says. He claims millions of gallons of water are being pumped into the Pacific to protect endangered fish. A quick google search proves that's false. Trump has lied to hurt hurricane victims, yet people still think he’ll be honest in his political statements. Trump using disaster aid as political leverage is typical for him.
Reread what I said. Homeless people starting fires in the forest caused some of these wildfires (that better for you?), as they were not caused by natural reasons. The drought conditions helped the spread of them for sure but most of the state isn't in one
I articulated it fine and didn’t overlook anything. You’re overcomplicating a simple point as usual. 95% of CA wildfires are caused by humans, not your outdated 85-90%. And yes, droughts spread fires, which is exactly what I implied initially. You’re trying too hard to 'correct' me.
This launch has been ready for almost 2 month now. The FAA was not going to allow the launch, at the earliest, mid November. And it wasn't until Mike Whitaker was pulled up in front of Congress late last month to explain the reasons, which none of them had to do with "safety" issues in which you are claiming now. You continue to cite the same nonsense as the same people who look for every reason to delay SpaceX. Other than after the first starship launch, SpaceX has been ready to launch withing 3 to 4 weeks, yet it's taking the inept governing agencies to approve launches. Perhaps you have a vested interest in China passing the US. Meanwhile...
Yes Trump, 500 percent tariffs on Toyotas and Hondas to protect the POS domestic vehicles that have been price gouging us.
It was bad, but I understood it because I saw your previous post about it. If not for that previous post, I would be as confuse as @rocketsjudoka. The difference between 85-90 and 95 isn't that significant, and the number depends on the period you cover. Human-caused fires are increasing, which shouldn't be surprising as humans create new things and are more present in the environment, leading to more fires. I'm not correcting you; I'm saying you're making simple statements and leaving out the full context.
I get what you're saying, but the difference between 85-90% and 95% is more significant when we're talking about trends over time and the fact these are additional firss affecting people's lives. As for the context, Rocketsjudoka could have just checked the previous post to see the point I made. I appreciate you acknowledging it but I've seen posts from several here (including yours) that would make no sense without looking at the context. Please post your source for the % number though. Mine is from the state: https://calmatters.org/environment/...rposeful, reckless or,it was more than 50,000 And: https://www.scientificamerican.com/...ocialflow&utm_medium=social&utm_source=reddit
Don't remember the source. Here is one for the whole USA that covers 2000-2017. https://www.nps.gov/articles/wildfire-causes-and-evaluation.htm Nearly 85 percent* of wildland fires in the United States are caused by humans
Another Republican trying to kill trump... Armed man arrested near Trump’s California rally was plotting to kill him, police say
I would generally be curious if he talked about that. Droughts are rough and common. Water is the cheapest resource, yet the most valuable.
So True! Trump and Vance are really disgusting. They have no integrity, and won't hesitate to lie. They don't give a damn who they put in harms way with their deceit and lies. All they care about is getting power. Beshear: ‘It hurts’ to see Trump, Vance lie about election, natural disasters “It’s just amazing. Apparently, there is no lie too big for Donald Trump and JD Vance,” Beshear said in response to the Vance interview. “I mean, when you ask him about the last election, all you’re asking him to do is admit reality, and we deserve to have a vice president who believes in democracy and can say, ‘Yes, Donald Trump lost the last election, and now we’re running in this election.’” Beshear also bemoaned the “lies” being told about disaster response from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). “Listen, in Kentucky, we went through our worst tornado disaster and our worst flood disaster in our history, and I didn’t have to deal with any of the shenanigans that Donald Trump [is] putting out right now,” Beshear said. The Kentucky governor later added that “it hurts” when it comes to “all this [misinformation].” In recent weeks, Vance has refused to acknowledge that Trump lost the 2020 election on multiple occasions. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4931317-andy-beshear-trump-vance-election-fema/
Trump doesn't give a damn about anyone but himself. He just keeps amping up all his BS voting lies and racist fear mongering and lies. It's absolutely disgusting the lengths he will go, and Vance is right there with him spreading the lies too. Times have taken such a dangerous turn since Trump lost in 2020. His lies and rhetoric have harmed so many people. He is a horrible evil man. He's sick in the head. It's getting worse and worse. He's amping up the hate and lies. He's amping up the threats and conspiracy theories, especially on immigrants, voting, and election officials. He has attacked media, tv networks, reporters, judges, prosecutors, Biden, Harris and other Democrats, celebrities, athletes, doctors, scientists. It's terrible. Trump is unfit to serve. He's psychologically twisted, and dangerous. This is only one article out of hundreds. It's a tiny fraction of the danger he's incited the past 4 years. 'Gonna be a rough one': Election workers anticipate threats in US Thousands of threats have been reported against state, county and city election officials, as well as poll workers, since the 2020 vote. Earlier this year, the Brennan Center for Justice, a voting policy institute, found that 38 percent of the local election officials it surveyed "experienced threats, harassment, or abuse for doing their jobs". In April last year, the centre also found a high likelihood of turnover among election workers. It estimated that 11 percent of election officials were likely to resign from their posts before the November 2024 election. "The loss of institutional knowledge that accompanies such high turnover can mean that election officials are less aware of resources available to assist them in securing and running their elections," the centre warned. Last month, a dedicated Department of Justice task force revealed that, since its launch in 2021, it had received 2,000 referrals for election worker threats and opened 100 investigations. The agency has so far charged 20 people, winning 15 convictions. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/long...lection-workers-anticipate-threats-in-us-vote
