Oh, I forgot that it already happened when Sengun decided to take the offensive bull by the horns and dropped 45 points against, of all people, Wemby in one of his last games last season. He just shredded the Spurs. I hope Ime allows Sengun to do the same in one or a couple of games this season. It would really be interesting to see.

That should put his floor at 7-8th best player and likely top 5 mvp, clearly above guys like Brunson and tatum

What players right now are clearly beyond a shadow of a doubt better than Sengun?

Last season EPM had him 45th, there’s some guys I would put sengun above though. Would have to go through the list but he’s probably 35th or so right now? Obviously based on last season, don’t know what he will be this season

FVV, Isaiah Hartenstein, Wemby, Porzingis, White, Mitchell, Haliburton, Lillard, Davis, Butler, Williams, Murray, Wagner, Holmgren, Anunoby, Smart, Ball, Nurkic, Markannen, Isaac, Sabonis, Harden, Love and Gobert are all above him and I would put him above all of them. Thats 24 players which would put him around 21st.

Paul George, Kawhi, Booker and Lillard are another few above him.

Jaylen Brown on this list is 39th so it isn't a great indicator of player impact. Banchero is like 75th or something as is JJJ.

ya no stat is perfect, EPM is generally regarded as the best "one stat metric" but again, it's not enough. It also depends on how much you're projecting alpi will improve, since it's impossible to know and just a guess.

Players i would say are no question above him: joel, shai, luka, giannis, jokic, brunson, lebron, pg13, kawhi, mitchell, hali, steph, booker, tatum, dame, fox, AD, kyrie, FVV, jimmy, ant, victor, KD, jdub, lauri, maxey, chet, jaylen brown, harden, ja, so that would put him 30th, not far from where you had him. I could see him finishing this season anywhere from 18th or so to 28th, depending on how he progresses.

i wasn't listing who i like better, i'm not sure what team you're a fan of has to do with where you rank players? I would hope that my ranking of any player would be the same regardless of what team i root for, otherwise the ranking is worthless. You may have misunderstood his question?

PG13 is past it, as is Kawhi, as is Dame. He destroyed Victor. Jimmy B. past his prime also. Etc.

What makes Chet "no question above him"?

This would make sense if you are a Thunder fan and blinded by that - objectively it is just plain wrong.

Ya those guys are older, i wouldn’t trade sengun for them or even consider it, but you can deny they were better by a considerable margin. He might pass one or two of them as he comes up and they go down this season and eventually will pass all of them, but idk if it’s right now. Chet did rate higher in epm, the spacing, efficiency, and elite defense are pretty awesome even if you don’t like him.

None of them is "no question above him", unless you have an anti-Rockets or anti-Sengun bias.

It's subjective and even though a disagree with some on here, Sengun (and Ime) need to win more than they lose for people to take Sengun seriously. From the pre-season so far, I see another .500ish team but if you put Jalen Brunson on this team instead of Sengun it'd be a .500 team as well IMO.

There's a .600 team in there though. I just wonder how long it'll take for them to turn to it.

Some trades to improve the average IQ of the team and to ensure everyone on the team understands and respects the pecking order would help.

I mean you put kawhi on there. There is simply no universe where you can say right now sengun is better than kawhi. That’s just pure rockets/sengun bias and nothing else. You have to try to be somewhat objective

Let's see how this plays out this season. Kawhi was an amazing player - but he has been dealing with a lot of injuries, is a weirdo and Sengun has him in rebounds, assists, FG % already, despite being 11 years younger. Sengun will be better this year already.

We also still haven't gone full Senhub. Still trying to accommodate everyone including a certain shooting guard. Watch that change.

Ya maybe, Brunson and FVV would be a horrid fit and we would have no bigs so ya the team wouldn’t improve much. I think being around .500 is ok this season, the west is insane and memphis is gonna be back. Winning would definitely change the narrative though, rockets played a sub 38 win pace in senguns 63 games which isn’t amazing. I could see him getting past a bunch of the guys on my list for sure, just have to see it that’s all.

Hope so! My dream scenario is that you are right on sengun and he’s a top 2-3 all time guy like you have said and that fchowd and apache and those guys are right on jalen. That would make me a happy happy fellow
