That’s a real problem. Last year he had 2/3 of a season as a terrible shooter. If Jalen can’t ever be at least an average shooter most of the season he is a bench player. He is the best creator on this team, but without a consistent shot that plus will become a zero over time. We can’t afford for Jalen to suck for 2/3 of a season any more. This is his last chance to turn the corner and I’m still somewhat optimistic that he will. If he doesn’t, this team will be struggling again to make the play-in. Nobody should be written off after 2 pre-season games, including Jalen and Jabari.
Thinly disguised, can't think for myself post...well done you. Had nothing to do with Alpi and everything to do with what Stone has to navigate and the importance of getting it right. DD
You wrote "it will be hard to pay any of them Max money - because there is someone on the bench just as good." Show me a player on the bench who is just as good as Alpi is.
So why not get some movement going to get Jalen easy looks or any of our shooters for that matter? Its always the same tired play -- high pick, launch 3 or drive into a congested paint and kick out for grenades. There is no creativity. No pin downs. Not multiple screens. We either give it to a perimeter player and hope he wins his 1 on 1 or dump into Sengun and play 2pts vs 3pts. We wont be hard to defend if THIS is going to be the game plan. Im just noticing crappy stuff I disliked from last year and was expecting some new installs. Im cool with brushing off the preseason, but I'd like to see some stuff I havent seen before. Udoka needs to earn his check too.
There is not a team in the league that wouldn’t give Sengun the rookie max extension. None. You have always been a terrible assessor of talent, but I do applaud your absolute dedication to Rocket fandom and self-deprecating humor. Every time I see a DaDakota post I read it. There are a few others that I always read, mainly Buck, Apache Warrior, Mathloon, Snake Digit, Telekinnwhatever, and Tomstro. In the end, this is an entertainment site and I can be entertained by knowledge, humor, and frankly trainwrecks.
I see we are at the blame the best player on the team and coach portion of the Jalen Green prayer circle. If only Fred had been out there last night it would have been a trifecta for you, blaming the three most important pillars of the teams success for Jalen’s failure, again just like last year.
Which one of you guys said the Jaters would roll in en masse on his first bad game? LMAO I owe you a beer!
Some important games of note coming up for Jalen against opponents not watching Cooper Flagg highlights during film sessions. Bolded the away games because he was really bad last year on the road. 10/25 vs Grizz 10/31 at Mavs 11/2 vs Warriors 11/4 vs Knicks 11/8 at Thunder 11/13 vs Clips 11/15 vs Clips 11/18 at Bucks 11/20 vs Pacers 11/26 at Timberwolves 11/27 at Sixers
Like Nurse and Finch, Daigneault was promoted from the GLeague up and he is one of the coaches that treats everyone alike whether drafted or undrafted. Since then, his bball acumen and Xs and OS have grown exponentially. He still hasn't won a chip but OKC has a top notch organization along with the best GM. Matter of time despite being a bottom 10 small market.
Yes, I agree with this. If Ime is incapable, sign an offensive coordinator. I’m convinced Ime is the right coach for a young team like ours and being a elite defensive team is one route to being a contender, especially with the new apron rules, but he absolutely needs to get more creative or hire someone to help him.
Maybe that wouldn’t be the case if Jalen can string together two good games in a row, or heck just two good quarters in a row. So much talk about his shooting when that’s not even his biggest problem. Jalen still has zero feel for the game and cannot/will not make the right plays. We went down 12-2 with players hunting wild shots before Udoka had to take a timeout and force feed his best player two post ups back to back to get the team back in the game. We do not want to post up Sengun every possession, we want to get the ball to our best player off movement and two man games, but that’s impossible when the lead ballhander has tunnel vision. Jalen only hunts for his own shots in pick and rolls which is why he doesn’t fit next to an elite big like Sengun. You can practice shooting and eventually get better, but you either have basketball iq or don’t.
of his 9 three point attempts 6 where off picks or dhos from Alpi 4 of those missed https://www.nba.com/stats/events/?C...eamID=1610612745&flag=3&sct=plot§ion=game
Sengun is a shitty pick setter that should come as no surprise he's in more of a rush to slip it and get back down in his comfort zone to look for his own shot. Just leave him in the paint and let Brooks or Jabari set picks its not like he's any threat to shoot and it only tires him out from running more than he needs to.
