Heard the Night shift guys say receivers aren't eating like they were last year. It's somewhat true. But the penalties are also responsible for that. First down conversions that are called back erase any future drive, for the Texans that's 6.3 plays per drive. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/htx/2024.htm And they keep erasing those future drives around 3x a game or more. 17 sure plays that never happen because the line goes mental. We're passing on 65% of our plays, so out of those 17 plays, 10-12 would be extra targets to receivers. 7 of them completions. We're leaving behind 50 yards for Stroud and the receivers. Spread those 50 between Dalton and Dell and their numbers are similar to last year. Or who knows maybe all 50 extra yards go to Nico lol. Ratio of 65%/35% surprised me a bit. https://www.nfeloapp.com/nfl-power-ratings/nfl-team-tendencies/
Tenth isn’t as bad as it feels. I think the penalties on false starts, holding, and ineligible receivers have killed any momentum the offense is trying to build. If the OL cleans up the penalty mistakes, it can find itself among the top 5 OL’s in the league.
PFF Grades after 5 weeks: Tunsil - 64.9 Kenyon Green - 46.2 Scruggs - 69.9 Mason - 62.1 Howard - 69.0 Blake Fisher - Grade not updated
To be fair he was pass blocking and there was no one around to block. He doesn't have eyes in the back of his head and didn't know CJ was running.
Im not sure how much longer DeMeco can go with Kenyon Green. For the sake of checking all the boxes we need to see Jarret Patterson get some reps with the 1's. Not like he would be much worse.
I think pressures are going to be a byproduct of an offense that passes as much as we do. Makes me wonder if SEA & DAL have high pressure numbers from their OL as they are the only two teams ahead of us in pass attempts so far.
