I hope you are right but am afraid you are wrong. I think the average American voter isn’t that bright and isn’t really paying attention to details like this. Themes such as “change candidate” are what some people will vote on alone. I mean look at the current situation. The economy is doing well, inflation is under control, and people can’t or won’t process that. You have millions of people who support Trump despite his multitude of flaws, many of which should be disqualifying alone. The fact that this election is close tells me that we cannot count on the average or independent voter to act reasonably, and this flub could be the difference. I hope I’m dead wrong. It is only our country’s future at stake,
I asked a question. I am only dealing in actual facts. It went beyond Jan. 6th. Trump and other aligned Republicans had a plan. They would ideally have Pence refuse to certify the election. When Pence said that he wouldn't, Trump told him that he was too honest. So Trump knew that he lost. Still they had the plan that by not certifying the election they could submit slates of fake electors. This would cause enough of a delay that Congress would vote on who the actual president would be. The Republicans would normally lose that vote except that the Constitution maintains that such a vote would be by state only. This would allow Trump to claim he was still the President. The riots of January 6th only happened after Pence refused. It was a last ditch effort to delay the election. The delay was partially successful. The vote to certify Biden as the elected President didn't actually occur until the early morning hours of January 7th. Trump's plan was hours away from working. This isn't made up garbage created by Democrats and people opposed to Trump. This is evidence and testimony by Trump's own administration, and allies in congress. I'm sorry that you find discussion of this historical attempt to overturn the election of 2020 a waste of time. But it is a historical event like we've never seen before. I was curious about your reasoning for not seeing that behavior and Trump's unwillingness to accept the results of this election as a threat to democracy? You are free to not discuss it, but it doesn't change the facts.
Dude, is this breaking news? On CF alone, how many people — Democrat, independent, former Republican - have said they would vote for a rock or a chair over Donald Trump? Sponge Bob? Sure. The only thing that you are missing is the characterization of the hatred. It is everything but blind. You can call it media fueled (yes, media does cover it). You can call it “woke” or “low T”. But the facts are endless. The hatred of Trump is far less “blind” that your support of him. HUNDREDS of Republican officials, decorated generals, and on and on have publicly stated that Trump is not fit for office. People with far more information that you or MAGA have. Your only response to that is something along the lines of “deep state” or equally worthless drivel that lacks any analysis, fact or reason.
The audience you are talking about is the average American voter who is still somewhat undecided (probably in the single digits by now). There are two conflicting messages: Trump is pushing ads (I'm sure they will if not already) that "show" Harris can't think of doing anything different than Biden. Harris is pushing ads about what she's doing differently. Both 1 and 2 received coverage from the media yesterday. When you have something that is conflicting like this, #2 wins out because she's actually proposing concrete examples, which tell the audience that #1 is misleading. This isn't one of those attacks that is going to be effective because it flies right in the face of the audience. P.S. Harris should absolutely keep doing these blitzes. They help drive turnout while also giving these somewhat undecided voters a better understanding of her, her policies, and her positions.
Country-over-party Republicans are not voting for Trump, and it looks like around 9% of registered Republicans are voting for Harris, largely because of January 6.
Your argument against the idea that Trump is a threat to democracy is that … he can’t do it even if he wanted to? So you concede that Trump is such a piece of sh-t that he wants to become a dictator, but that’s totally fine and not disqualifying because he can’t. I suppose that’s not surprising because it is a relatively minor problem with Trump compared to the other fatal flaws, like - compulsive liar - incompetence - conspiracy theorist - inability to live in the factual world - difficulty with basic science - author of moronic ideas - serial masogynist, sexual assaulted and f-cker of p*rn stars - peddler of white supremacist/hitler themed messaging
You forgot to mention Charlottesville. You gotta throw that "good people on both side" line in there somewhere.
it should be a pretty big deal that the president incited an insurrection against his own government in an attempt to stay in power. that he pressured the georgia secretary of state to "find" 11,780 votes. that to this day still cannot admit that he lost the 2020 election. that he says if elected he will pardon the 1/6 insurrectionists (after previously saying they were criminals who should be punished to the fullest extent of the law). its not "garbage" to point out january 6th as a reason to vote against trump and the fact that you cant address the issue is very telling.
I still see it as a flub because she could have pushed her new initiatives without saying she can’t think of anything different. hell, just go with I’m not Biden, I’m not trump. There is a very legitimate basis to vote for her as a change candidate based on that alone. She isn’t crazy or geriatric (or both in the case of Trump). I agree that undecided voters are going to be more dialed in that your average voter. But they too are a turnout question, as are people on the margins of either side. Where a state and maybe the election will turn on as little as 10,000 to 50-000 votes, you can’t make this mistake. And it infuriates me because this is a top 5 question to prepare for, right along with the economy and the border. Practice this crap until you get it down. It is not that hard to remember a few damn lines.
You did watch the segment, right? She did all of that 'I'm not Biden, I'm not Trump' in that very segment (and at every opportunity that type of question comes up). Personally, I don't believe it's impactful. If she had said that months ago when she didn't have any specific policies, then it would be impactful, as there would be a void to fill. That void no longer exists, and it's much harder to insert a message into a space that includes her policies, which are different from both of them. That is what actually conveyed to voters that she is a change candidate. Her saying she is different wouldn't do it; her articulating her actual policies did.
While ghost hunting may seem like a hobby that didn’t pan out, there are conspiracies which were dismissed in the past but later turned out to be true. Examples like government surveillance (NSA spying) and corporate misinformation (Big Tobacco’s denial of smoking cigarette risks) show that skepticism can sometimes lead to uncovering real issues. Ghost hunting, well idk what she was expecting to find there.
An escape from reality. But that's in the past. I'm happily remarried for 10 years this year. Our child is the one who suffered as a result not me. and that is sad. He lived with me his entire high school years of his own accord. But I still paid 1500.00 monthly in support. It was what it was
No they asked her again in a different way 40 minutes later. The earpieces were going off the hook trying to correct the statement Kamala said earlier. It was a major flub on the biggest sticking of her campaign which was "I'm not Joe Biden and had no power the last 4 years". You sound a little out of touch with mainstream middle class America. Sure the economy is doing well... if you invested in stocks and crypto during the pandemic and are sitting good now. And Inflation is "under control" after a several year spike. If what you're saying is true then Biden would still be in the race because his favorability rating would be sky high and a reelection inevitable.
