No. Puts up stats but still bad on D which will make Udoka glue his ass on the bench. Amen will make a better case IMO cuz lets be real, Brooks still gonna be the starter.
I don’t care about 6th man I want to see 5 man bench of: Reed Cam Amen Eason Adams Landale can be the 6th man of the bench unit though.
he'll need playing time to score which he wont get if keeps being bad at defense. Dont forget we have Tari and Amen he has to fight with for PT..
I've been thinking about Cam and his effectiveness. Do you guys think he’s better suited to play as a shooting guard or a small forward? I see him as a potential future starter to replace Dillon, but he needs to clarify his role a bit more first.
If you look at the history of the award, Cam's role on the team fits the bill. If he shoots 40% from long range and gets ~25 mpg, he'll be a finalist.
There are two types of games: regular season and playoffs. We tend to only think about the latter. Cam will win us games in the regular season and eat minutes, keeping others fresh. Both of those are important. If we get to the playoffs, shorten the rotation if he’s a defensive liability.
The team is so deep that he is probably only be the 7th or 8th man while Tari or Amen is the 6th guy or Dillon Brooks.
IMO, Cam's 3-point shot will determine his mins more than anything else unless he totally goes brain dead on defense this year.
Dracary Smith and Dillon Brooks are not set in their starter role either, IMHO, there are enough games when those 2 sucked. I am just saying, I can see Cam, Amen, Tari taking those easily, those are interchangeable parts IMO. Nothing is set in Stone, pun intended.
I think he will be a more of a 2 especially if Jalen has consistency issues. We have Amen who will take over for Dillon at the 3 and also Tari.
He's played as a SF/PF his entire basketball career. He models himself on Melo's game more than anybody else. People just want to pigeonhole him as a 2 guard so they can fantasise about him taking Jalen's spot.
