true. He wasn't. But this led the way for banning books with irrational CRT hysteria that we see going on now.
Tucson's Mexican-American Studies Program led to banning books with irrational CRT hysteria that we see going on now?
It led the way to approach it. It was successful in 2012. It was based on banning ethnic studies. That is what we see with the CRT hysteria. In 2012 they weren't talking about CRT but that is what they are using now. That and the trans/grooming hysteria that seems to have overtaken CRT lately. https://www.azmirror.com/2022/02/03...ry-bill-banning-racially-divisive-curriculum/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2022/02/14/critical-race-theory-teachers-fear-laws/ https://www.politico.com/news/magaz...ricts-mexican-american-studies-program-498926
The unintended consequences of purely politically motivated laws. It used to be that both sides hate that crap. Now, as long as my side wins, I'm good.
Yes. You're correct. But it was early on the west coast and World Cup was starting. Maybe I do suck at multitasking.
lol. no worries here. sorry about the Lin comment, the article all by itself just struck me as strange. The Politico piece is particularly good
@AroundTheWorld The DeSantis administration is threatening criminal proceedings against broadcasters (WFLA-TV stations) showing political ads they don't like. This represents the most dangerous form of censorship—government interference in political speech.
Well Trump tried to get the FCC to “take away” the government’s broadcast license from ABC after he made a fool of himself at the debate. That psycho wanting to take away licenses of networks that don't kiss his whiney butt is crazy. Actually, if he had his way the only broadcast National networks would be those that spew his lies and propaganda. It's so Hitler like. Control the media to control the minds.
He threatens anyone who doesn't like him. That's a dangerous and psychotic trait, and certainly not one that you want in a President, who absolutely loves the dictator and right wing extremist types.
He also used an NDA to censor people working for his campaign for life, until the court struck it down. Denson: Donald Trump, for his entire administration, censored hundreds, if not thousands, of people from criticizing him. If it were not for my work in the courts, he would have been silencing them for the rest of their lives. Let me portray the Trump NDA in a way I haven’t before. Imagine Kamala Harris right now and Tim Walz have every single staffer, contractor, and volunteer that works for their campaign sign a non-disclosure, non-disparagement agreement that says they cannot speak one word of criticism against her for the rest of their lives. This is North Korea-type stuff—demanding allegiance to a leader for the rest of their lives. Not only can they not criticize Kamala Harris, but her stepchildren can’t be criticized either. Whatever business they’re engaged in, I think her stepdaughter is in the fashion business.. Any staffers on that campaign can’t criticize anything related to her stepchildren either. Anything remotely related to Kamala Harris. These people would be silenced for the rest of their lives. So, I ask any Trump supporters out there: how would you feel about that? Because that’s exactly what Donald Trump did to every single one of the hundreds, if not thousands, of staffers, independent contractors, and volunteers who worked on his campaign in 2016. https://protectdemocracy.org/work/jessica-denson-wins-major-victory-over-trump-campaign/ March 30, 2021 NEW YORK, NY – Today, a federal court held that the standard form non-disclosure agreement (Form NDA) the Trump campaign required its workers to sign is invalid and unenforceable. The ruling is the result of a class action lawsuit brought by Jessica Denson, a former Trump campaign staffer, represented by Protect Democracy, Bowles & Johnson PLLC, and Ballard Spahr LLP. The court’s ruling can be found here. “The former president and his campaign have been waging an all-out war on truth, aided in no small part by unfettered NDAs that bullied his workers into silence for eternity,” said Jessica Denson. “Today’s beautiful ruling rebukes this unmitigated censorship, and I am so grateful that my years of trial have resulted in this illegal roadblock to transparency, accountability, and justice being struck down.” John Langford, counsel for Protect Democracy, noted that this ruling has broad implications not just for campaign workers, but for the American people. “Political campaigns’ use of overbroad NDAs like those used by the Trump campaign prevent the American people from obtaining vital information about candidates for office and elected officials. Today’s ruling vindicates our profound national commitment to uninhibited, robust, and wide-open public debate about public officials and candidates for office.” As the Court explained, because the effect of the Form NDA “is to chill the speech of Denson and other former Campaign workers about matters of public interest, the non-disclosure provision is harmful not only to them but also to the general public.”
In this case, it's worse. The dude worships DeSantis. Anyhow, it's clear now that ATW is against freedom of speech.
