I’m not sure it’s to that level but it’s worrisome. What I think is happening more is less we’re going to turn into a fascist country but we’re corruption and grift will be normalized and legalized. Trump is far more interested in enriching and aggrandizing himself than he is in any ideology.
I read a TONNNN of stuff about that time period….studied it my whole life. The tone and the sentiment is there big time. It’s not Trump I worry about…he’s the useful idiot of the people I worry about.
Texas could always create a mini electoral college like a couple states have and you and I know they would do anything to hold on to power.
I can agree with that. Trump is a conman with a sense of inflated ego. I’ve never felt he was Hitler but think he’s more in line with Ferdinand Marcos. People like Stephen Miller and others around him do believe in an ideology and they see him as a tool towards a nativist ethnostate.
It scares me that Putin has so much influence where we have a former president and current nominee saying that Ukraine should just give up land, and tons of other influential people supporting that notion. When have we just given up on an ally like that?
This is why I don’t believe Trump is like Hitler or other powerful authoritarian figures. He wouldn’t be so willing to just appease if he was. I think he’s far more interested in enriching himself and his family than he is in reshaping the country to some thousand year movement.
But he would gladly burn down the country and turn into Hitler if it helped him enrich himself. There isn’t anything he won’t do to win this election because he knows he is otherwise going to jail.
I think he's like Aleksandr Lukashenko except he was in charge of the most powerful country in the world. Our system of distributed power prevented total disaster.

That's nuts! I read the article. Walters endorsed Trump, and many onlookers surmise he’s angling for a cabinet position if Trump wins in November. It's crazy how everything keeps coming back to Trump, and the big grift off people willing to make political decisions to profit him, and vice versa. Trump's hundreds of licenses and businesses are far too mixed up in his self-serving profiting and grift, and his quid pro quo political decisions.
