but also at the same time, and as part of the broader context, her real goal is establishment of a strategic partnership with these countries that is based on respect and shared values."
What changed is the GOP nominated and then renominated a candidate who doesn't understand or respect the US Constitution and sought to undermine US Democracy. Perhaps the question should be to Trump's previous running mate who won't endorse or vote for him and his current running mate who compared him to Hitler and even in 2020 said he had failed to deliver.
Context: This was in August 2020, prior to Harris becoming VP, January 6, and the Republican Party's abandonment of their duty to uphold the law and Constitution. What changed? The Republican Party abandoned the Constitution and democracy, shilling for Trump when the evidence was clear about what he had done. She is convinced Trump is a real and present danger to the Constitution after Jan6. She is not alone. Most people who know Trump firsthand and have worked for his administration won’t be voting for him for the same reason, and some are even now endorsing Harris. Trump supporters cannot process that fact and just shelve it away.
Flip flopping is the biggest loser argument for trumpers. Has there been a greater flip flop than JD Vance’s position on Trump in the history of American politics? Wait, no, character is. There has been no greater scumbag candidate for the Presidency than Trump. The only reason these issues are raised is because Trumpers are too stupid to understand how stupid they are and the dumb asses are so desperate to justify their support of Trump.
"In this election, putting patriotism ahead of partisanship is not an aspiration. It is our duty,” Cheney said. “I ask all of you here and everyone listening across this great country to join us. I ask you to meet this moment. I ask you to stand in truth, to reject the depraved cruelty of Donald Trump. And I ask you instead to help us elect Kamala Harris for president. "I know…that…a president Harris will be able to unite this nation. I know that she will be a president who will defend the rule of law, and I know that she will be a president who can inspire all of our children—and if I might say so, especially our little girls—to do great things. So help us right the ship of our democracy so that history will say of us, when our time of testing came, we did our duty and we prevailed because we loved our country more.”
Waaay too many words and facts for the village idiots to deal with. Also, it is so fun for them to post these sweet sweet tweets. What else would they do? Kids like candy. Drug addicts want more drugs. Gluttons want cheeseburgers.
Exactly - is it cringe? Yeah but not in a bad way--- it is a family spending time together and not hiding in their rooms hating each other. Also - at some point in the future your son will do the same thing with his kids and nephews. My wife took videos of me at 40 years throwing 90+ mph to my nephew, and marveling that an 13 year old could turn on a 90 mph fastball at his chin... it's cringe, no one else wants to see that -- but it is an expression of love... especially in a world where everyone just sits on their phone. As for politics - I always found families that are EXTREMELY political, loyal to a party like it is a sports team - to be really annoying, and I don't care what party they support.
Also - as for all these videos of Somalians .... Haitians .... (Mexicans are excluded because they need their votes) and other groups are absolutely the same as what was said about Italians through the 1960's, Germany through the 1940's, Irish in around 1900 ... Jews through the 1940's. If you want to go far enough back - they said it about Swedes as well. I have been to "Little Mogadishu" a few times and never felt unsafe. About half the people are Africans and most are Muslims. Perhaps I am just used to more dangerous areas, like Southside of Chicago or Gary Indiana (not even that bad now) or parts of Los Angeles..... parts of Mexico I have been to, and actually some parts of Europe. I won't ever say that there are not adjustment periods when new waves of immigrants come into the USA - but I have lived long enough to know that they do acculturate, and that crime ends up evening out. I personally lived through the Vietnamese "invasion" in Houston. I saw the difficulty that some Vietnamese had, I saw periods of extreme violence - and that passed. I have seen the same with Mexicans and even Russians and El Salvadorians. The sentiment expressed by MAGA - and the tactics as well - are not novel or new like some of their followers have claimed. For the last 150+ years there has been tension in the USA over immigration and whether it is good or bad - whether it takes away jobs... the depiction of immigrants as thieves, rapists, murderers and "anti-American". It wasn't that long ago that conservatives (and some moderate liberals) were convinced that Jews that came to the USA were culturally socialists, were loyal to the Star of David and not the USA and had no interest in being American.
I grew up in Kemah and my dad had a shrimp boat he would use in the weekends. I saw some bad stuff by bad people. It was a bad time to be a Vietnamese looking for a viable future. My dad always told me there is enough shrimp for everyone. A holes are always going to be a holes
I expect the democrats to find some woman this dude in the yellow dated 20 YEARS ago and pay her to make claims “SA” againist him to cancel out what he is saying here
Then you know what I am talking about. It was very difficult to be Vietnamese in Texas in the 1970's through about 10 years ago. There were people that associated them with the Vietnam War. There were people that believed that they were stealing jobs, there were people that viewed them as small and weak and tried to bully them - there were people (including Asian Americans) that viewed them as the lowest of the social order, as basically "mud people". I heard and saw it all growing up. I also saw Vietnamese kids I grew up and fathers that sometimes were extremely violent, after a life of being picked on. I saw some Vietnamese that distrusted everyone but other Vietnamese. I also saw them work extremely hard. In a very short period of time the "complaints" against the Vietnamese has largely changed, and the sons and daughters of the same people that ridiculed and protested them being in Texas now are buying their food, and embracing the ways they have enriched Texas culture. The same thing will happen with other immigration groups. It is very easy to vilify a group of new people and blame them for everything.
It was truly a black eye for my charming little hometown. KKK out in full force. And to an 11-year-old they were scary as F. Even to a little toe head whiter than white kid. I watched Alamo Bay many years later and was so unnerved I could not finish it. There has been a large influx of Dominicans here in Albany, NY over the past few years. I have hired many to work for my facility. Almost all have a better work ethic than our "snowflake" children we have reared here in the states. My only problem I have to wrap my head around is the hate they have for other Latino countries. They hate Puerto Ricans, who hate Cubans, who hate Mexicans, and so on. I find it strange, but I guess they have reasons I am not aware of??? I blame soccer
In the Hispanic community there is a lot of conflict because the cultures and history of each country is so different. I know a lot of Cubans that feel they are superior to other Hispanic groups and view themselves as white/Spanish. Dominicans and Haitians do not get along a lot of times as well. Right now, my Mexican friend is telling me in my office about how Venezuelans think they are superior to Mexicans. It happens.
