The atmosphere at Minute Maid was seriously lacking. It feels like the team and the fans all got complacent. No hunger. It's time to bring in some new blood.
Yet they've had three collapses to miss the playoffs altogether in the last 4 years, but I'll pull for them in the NL regardless, anyone to stomp LA.
Can you imagine the knob sobbing that's going to be happening with Soto and Ohtani on the same field?
Actually, his bat was better this year than last, but he's been within 5% of league average every year- that's what he is with the bat. It would be nice if he spent the offseason working on base stealing, was put in the #9 hole all next year, and stole 30+ bases. He has the speed but not the skill. He is still an exceptional fielding SS, but the inconsistency is maddening. Still he's a better SS than the majority of teams have. He's not a problem or a "hole" but certainly nit beyond an upgrade.
The time will come when Pena is challenged - but it won't be now because they will have holes at 1st/3rd/CF/LF ..... Pena is fine when he hits 8th or 9th in the line up.... its a problem when he is in front of guys like Meyers, Caratini and Dubon.
Suarez may be dealt - their owner has interest in the Astros current 3rd baseman. Yes - the pickings at 3rd are slim, but the cost is low too - so the Astros need to spend the money to get a really solid bat to make up the difference and then some. Jorge Blanco is also someone that the Astros think can possibly play 3rd.
Not that much. If the DBacks get Bregman (there owner wants new stadium funding) then they will likely move Suarez for money.
