Gamel has never been the answer - he is like a career .700% OPS guy. The Astros knew by the deadline that Chas wasn't Chas - and going into the season Brown said they needed another bat and arm, but may get them at the deadline. I love the Astros - I think that Brown is very good at talent evaluation and will likely be a good GM - Crane is the best owner in Houston sports history --- but the inability to address the holes known is really inexcusable.
Gosh I thought that was fair ugh…baseball is a b****. A HR to a single for Bregman by an inch…a double to an out by an inch there. Crazy that after 162 we play best of 3 lol…but that’s the game.
Can someone please tell me why Astros batters are just standing at the plate watching pitches right down the middle?
What doesn’t help Bagwell is that he openly criticized analytics and started the whole “back of the baseball card” thing that we heard Espada and Dana Brown use afterward. It does seem like he has pull and that his opinions are valued in that inner circle of Crane and Co. Whether it’s true or not, or on purpose or not, he and the others have created that perception.
The last time they swung at strikes it resulted in lazy ground balls to fielders, so they're trying something new.
Imagine if we had been sellers during the deadline. We could've had a top 5 farm system and be primed for another run in a few years. This team never had enough to win a championship this year. Let's be real with ourselves
