This team has sacrificed power and OBP for Batting Average and it's resulted in meh seasons for the likes of Altuve, Alvarez, and Diaz despite the gaudy looking numbers. Alongside stranding the most runners and grounding into the most double plays in baseball. Homers win come october.
Dominant starting pitching is the most important thing in baseball. Their stud has stepped up, Framber did not.
Didn't we all think it was stupid to keep trying in Game 1 ALDS in 2022? Keep the faith. Then prepare for the huge let down.
Just go away. You think calling someone a b**** online means anything? You did this last year. You waited until the playoffs and came in here defending dusty and fighting everyone during tense games. You’re a tool. Going on ignore.
Framber Valdez was the best pitcher in the 2022 post season ..... he was bad in the 2023 post season, like most of the Astros starters. Valdez isn't really the problem--- the problem is when half your line up is made up of replacement level hitters. Cole has been bad his last two post seasons series as well - a lot of this is a craps shoot.
Previous years I would think maybe we have a chance at coming back still. This team hasn’t showed that ability all season though.
When you have an ERA approaching the mid 4s, you’ve been bad more than you’ve been good. I don’t care about his run in 2022. And their entire lineup is filled with replacement hitters. He still gave up 3 runs and didn’t even make 5 innings.
You can point to isolated events or particular points in the game - like getting down 3-0 to the catcher - but it doesn't change the fact that the Astros haven't had a runner past 2nd base today, and that that Valdez was two inches from getting out of the second giving up 1 run .... against a team that was the best in baseball the last two months of the season. The idea that this is all Valdez' fault is absurd - there is plenty of blame to go around, from the owner down to the players on the field.
Despite beating the dead horse of Abreu... imagine if Bagwell didn't insist in dragging that corpse out there for a 2nd go-around where we conceded a handful of more games where he inflated the errors of all the other infielders.
