I don’t feel sorry for any of them on a personal level- but your sport is screwed when 3 of the top 5 living players (Bonds/Clemens/A-Rod) are persona non grata - also the league and owners and commissioner knew damn well what was going on and purposely ignored it and rewarded such behavior.

Nobody would even know who Ray Fosse was if it weren’t for Pete Rose and this play.

Tbf you can say the same thing about Ruben Tejada and Chase Utley, doesn't make the Utley slide any better.

Nowhere near the greatest hitter of all time, but to his credit he was amazing at staying healthy and hanging around long enough to compile. Probably the most overrated "inner circle all time great" among fans. I could list 30-40 player clearly better than him, and probably more who were very close to his level. Biggio, who is probably in the lower tier of HOFer's in the national eye, had basically the exact same 9 year WAR peak as Rose.

Obviously a clear HOF level player, but not a good person (and that's being kind) on the field or off the field so f**k him.

I’m sorry he wasn’t famous enough for you, but Ray Fosse knew who he was, and he probably even would have liked to keep his career.
That wasn’t “play the game the right way” - it was just being a self-centered a-hole. Like Rose.

RIP, after all the documentaries I saw on him and his victim attitude turned me off........wasn't around for the Big Red machine but I saw what he was like after baseball and, to put it mildly, wasn't a fan........................should he be in the HOF, TBH I don't care

I saw Pete Rose in Vegas one time. He was set up to sell autographs at a little table right near the lobby of a casino on the strip. No big sign saying who he was, no promotional material to speak of. He was sitting there with one other guy standing behind him. He looked pretty pathetic. I was in my early 20s so while I knew who he was, I wasn’t into baseball much and I didn’t think to go talk to him. CSB

All-time leader in Games, PA, AB, and HITS -- pretty cool to lead the entire sport in any stat much less in multiple categories.

Pete was ahead of my time but always knew him for the Hits King mantra and the gambling.

Well-deserved HOF for his playing career

He and Dusty have something in common, but fortunately the Dynastros will still surpass the Red Machine's prowess.
