Zach Lowe creating Rumors about Jalen Green can't play with Alperen Sengun. Which is a lie and Zach is a puppet for LeBron media. Alperen Sengun being traded is idiocy and Rafael Stone never fell pays attention to these Rumor ESPN. Rafael Stone said best one is Shooting Guard, one is a Center. ESPN is TMZ.

I'm surprised but I shouldn't be surprised. I wonder will Lowe will go next. I hope he doesn't go behind a The Athletic paywall. He's the best NBA reporter and he heavily utilized all of ESPN's many resources in his writing, so I'm not sure if a more lean operation like Ringer would be the best fit for him. But, maybe a big shakeup would be good for him, and what the hell do I know anyway.
Ehhh...if you're that interested in reading him The Athletic is only $48/yr for the first year, $72/yr after that. I like their content, with him it'd definitely be worth it for a hardcore NBA fan

Wow that sucks. I was wondering what was up, he has done barely any writing/podcasting since the Olympics. I didn't love EVERYTHING Zach said or did or agreed with, basketball wise, but on net he was a huge asset to their coverage, particularly the columns/podcasts. ESPN just hollowing, hollowing, hollowing out its product until it's just a bunch of live sports and pat mcafee clips is not great!
IMO, the Athletic is the one and only sports site that is worth a small monthly subscription. There is enough good to great content on the site that sets it apart from all the others. I suggest you give it a shot. That said, I hate that it was purchased by the NYTimes and you now see nytimes.com/ as part of the web address. So far, the material hasn't been affected.
I think ESPN knows it's not going to be a place for people to go for analysis with so much competition from podcasts and YouTube.
I cannot comprehend how those people are as popular as they are. To me they're completely unwatchable.
It seems like ESPN as a whole is unwatchable outside of actual live sports. Quite the contrast to 20 years ago when ESPN's strength was its actual daytime lineup. Seems like the leaned way too hard into opinion shows, gutted the remains of the sports journalism and now they've got nothing good to watch except live sports. I'm fortunate that my cable package lets me add sports channels via a $10 a month add on so I basically get TSN (Canadian ESPN affiliate) for the NBA and MLB playoffs and then drop the package after. I've tried watching the other content on ESPN outside of games and its just awful.
I only know who SAS is of those 3. People like me that no longer watch ESPN for anything other than a game are probably why Lowe got laid off. I kind of forgot that he had an on-air presence. I only cared about his podcast and articles.
Perhaps my nostalgia, but I miss sports coverage in the likes of ABC’s wide world of sports. Report on the athlete’s accomplishments, instead of trying to stir up scandal. Nowadays, these talking heads are rude, brash, obnoxious, biased, etc… And people kept watching. I used to tune in and let the sports recaps play in the background while I worked, now I simply can’t even tune it to sports channels, because it’s so damn annoying to listen to those fools. I get most of my sports broadcasts via 790 or 740 am radio. The NFL is still on TV do I get to watch. But I said NO MAS to ESPN many many years ago! On a side note, one time I was watching Entertainment tonight, and the host was interviewing some starlet. And the host was exponentially more stunning than the actress, but the host lumped herself with the average person when talking about the beauty of the actress. These hosts are the ringmasters, and they probably feel they are more talented than the personalities they are paid to cover. I look at those fool hosts on ESPN, Fox Sports, etc. and it’s about them and them alone.
I'll throw on Sportcenter in the background from time to time...like right now. Outside of that I'm like you and only want the channel for games. Espn+ website has some good content it you're willing to pay for it, I'd much rather read about sports than watch people talk about sports. Pat McAfee has basically ruined College Gameday for me.
I like the ESPN website. I have no problem with watching people talking about sports. They just tend to be the same people that I read their articles. I use to like NFL Primetime with Hodges and Jaws. That may have been the last show I'd watch on ESPN. I love videos that break down strategy for basketball and football. With using streaming for watching games, I just search and click on the game I want to watch without thinking about what channel it is on. Other than the Astros. Fubo always wants to go with a National Feed or the other team's feed instead of Blummer and Kalas. Heck lately, I've had to avoid the Spanish Astros feed (think this was a last homestand thing). I love Francisco Romero's passion for the game, but will take guys that I can understand more of what they are saying. It has been a long time since I've thought about putting Sportscenter on (decade at least). On what's in the background, we tend to stream episodes of a bunch of shows (lately Castle, Ted Lasso, the League, HIMYM, Stranger Things, 24, Numb3rs, or Chuck).
