Not a doctor, but my understanding is that you can’t get great imaging until initial swelling has subsided. So this may be a situation where uncertainty happens to actually be the truth.

Why not? Yordan is staying in Houston this weekend so might as well replace him. Doesn't impact postseason eligibility unless a 15-day IL carries over into the postseason?
The injury already happened, he's either gone or he's not, posting about it is not going to affect things one way or the other. You simply can't trust the Astros team doctors to be straight up with stuff like this, I wouldn't be surprised if he was "questionable" for the entire postseason while never playing. Kyle Tucker missed more time than anyone expected because the Astros medical staff never gave straight up timelines.
I can neither confirm nor deny that the 10-day and 15-day IL are purged at the end of the regular season, regardless of how many games players on it have sat out. eta: by my count, if Yordan is placed on the IL retroactive to the 22nd and has to sit out the full 10 days, he would miss the first 2 games of the WC round
I think it's more about coming off a championship in 2022, giving 2023 a boost, than the slow start this year.
Last year was the first season they drew 3M since 2007, Schwab makes it sound like it's been a regular occurrence.
