Horrible horrible game. Yordan got excited taking 2nd being hot with the bat and Tucker joining in getting close to healthy. Stating the obv ofcourse but Yordan is the real proven clutch post season performer of all teams. Game on the line I pick him over Judge, Ohtani or anybody. Soto is pretty close but pitch clock have reduced his lambadatwist rubbing one off in the box staring pitcher in the eyes mind games effectiveness. Behind Yordan for our pitching staff we can't lose Framber and everytime Breggy rests the infield D looks like clown show. Usually Astros say "nothing to see here" or day to day but Yordan status still "pretty bad" and "not lookin great". So out for season is real possibility. Even if he can play WC round he is not 100%. This magnifies the selection of post season rotation. We prob.have to win with pitching and if JV is starting any meaningful games we have given up on trying to win above everything else. Luckily Mariners lost allthough Twins, Kansas and Rangers trying their best to get M's to post season.
Sneaky potential offseason target to platoon 1B with Singleton: Kyle Farmer. Has consistently hit lefties throughout his career, can play all over the infield, shouldn’t be very expensive, and will likely only demand one year. Hasn’t played a lot of 1B but he has played there and it shouldn’t be an issue for the 40-50 games that he’d be out there.
Episode 80 of breathing orange fire is up. It’s a short one- we are going to go again after clinching. it starts with my 9 year old talking about her first big time football game and comparing it to the Astros.
The way things are lining up, this may be who Astros hitters face a week from today unless Detroit needs to pitch him Sunday to clinch.
I really dislike the way the Astros handle injuries. They aren't honest. He has had an MRI by now, and they know precisely what the situation is, but they are not talking.
"Alvarez has been diagnosed with only a knee sprain, according to The Athletic. He has been ruled out for the rest of the Mariners series but may return for the final three games of the regular season."
The honest part....yes, they believe not being 100% truthful on injuries gives them a competitive edge. On them knowing precisely what the situation is, my underastanding is that inflammation makes diagnosis difficult. I think the Astros would have operated differently in the offseason if they knew precisely which players would and would not bounce back quickly. I think in some cases, they have been wrong about the diagnosis, but also don't think they are 100% truthful.
