Law enforcement was an army of private industry. There are no police busting up strikes anymore

Create a culture then won't matter who you put in it
There were plenty of black overseers

In the most commonly used cameras (Axon and I forget the other one, because all the agencies here use Axon), the camera actually constantly records and overwrites itself, and when you push the button, it starts saving from 30 seconds before you push the button until you turn it off (or it is full). That retroactive 30 seconds may or may not have sound, depending on the brand. I haven't seen one that delays recording for 30 seconds after you push the button though.

I have a case right now - police shooting 1983 case where the first 30 seconds are gone for one of the officers. I can’t speak for all precincts though as I have primarily practiced in the same area.

Honestly, that's the story I thought of when it comes to the threat of being an honest cop around crooked ones. That story stuck with me big time. I feel sorry for the honest cops caught up in the middle of a really bad bunch of cops.

Data storage is so insanely cheap right now that it doesn’t make sense for body cams to not be on the entire shift, then backed up to a server at the end of shift.

This is another case of policy/law not keeping up with the rapid pace of technological advancement.

Yep its not about race. Africans are "blacker" than black Americans n they're not getting killed by the police on average per capita.

I used to have few cop buddies in my younger days but I've realized they're policeman 24/7. So that was the end of that (really thought they were civilians/one of us once they took the uniform off, but nope) .

They don't want it all to be stored.

I personally think cops are comically underpaid and comically unaccountable. I really wonder what type of starting salary the police union(s) to keep those cameras rolling all the time.

No - it has to do with police unions and departments not wanting their officers being recorded the entire shift over concerns of what they may say or do…

Yeah, I get it, my statement was rhetorical and meant to start a discussion about the double standard and other bullshit. I can walk naked through a backscatter machine at the airport and it's cool, and every person who works (and shops) in big-box retail has their entire shift on video, and that's ok, right?

There isn't much rational room to argue for cops not having everything they do recorded, outside of taking a dump or on a break.

Bottom line is that police wield a disproportionate amount of power over people and everything they do while on duty should be recorded.

The Justice Department has announced they found civil rights violations by the City of Lexington, Mississippi and the Lexington Police department in their latest press release.

The Justice Department’s investigation uncovered that Lexington police officers have engaged in a pattern or practice of discriminating against the city’s Black residents, used excessive force, and retaliated against those who criticize them.

Specifically, the Justice Department finds that LPD unlawfully:

    - Arrests, jails and detains people who cannot pay fines or fees, without assessing their ability to pay

    - Uses excessive force

    - Conducts stops, searches and arrests without probable cause, including jailing people on illegal “investigative holds” and arresting people solely because they owe outstanding fines

    - Imposes money bail without justification or assessment of ability to pay

    - Jails people without prompt access to court

    - Violates the rights of people engaged in free speech and expression, including by retaliating against people who criticize the police

    - Discriminates against Black people and Operates under an unconstitutional conflict of interest because LPD’s funding depends on the money it raises through its enforcement.

The DOJ is holding a community meeting today at 6:00 p.m. CT at St. Paul C.O.G.I.C. Fellowship Hall, 17214 Highway 17 South, Lexington, MS 39095, and is urging the public to attend.
