He pretty much wrote the playbook on how to half-ass it during games and force a trade. Honestly, he did the Raptors way worse than Harden did the Rockets; here's Bill Simmons' writeup on him about one month before he was traded:

Honestly though, its absolutely fitting that Vince is the first number retired for the franchise. Time heals all wounds (along with a championship), and looking back with the benefit of hindsight, if Vince is not the absolute face of the franchise coming off of the 1999 lockout, pro basketball in Canada might not exist today, in the same way that the Grizzlies were forced to sell and move.

Great to do this this year as well, because Kyle Lowry absolutely deserves to get his jersey retired soon after, and this might be his last year considering how much his play has declined over the past two years.

The more you are invested in a player, the deeper it cuts when said player tries to leave on his own and while still being relevant and in his prime.

While i think it's much deserved and good they've buried the hatchet, i can't unhear that interview he did with bill Russell? And said he basically doesn't try.

shout out to Yinka Dare mixtapes on yt in all of its 240 p glory lol. My childhood. All these clips were from Vince's rookie campaign!
