It is not because they lost one game. It is because they just rolled over and cried over losing Alvarez instead of gathering themselves and play even harder. Why didn't they do that? Because they have no guts and no fire. They deserve to be demeaned because they cannot score against any pitcher with an ERA below 4 as will be proven again tomorrow night and the night after that and so on and so forth. So, what is the biggest collapse in major league baseball regular season history up to this one by the Asstros? 1987 Blue Jays. They were in first place in the AL East at the beginning of the final week of the season by 3.5 games over the Tigers. They lost the final 7 games of the season (including a sweep against the Tigers), and fell into second place, 2 games back. Of course, this record will soon be eclipsed by the Asstros with a 5 game lead over the Mariners with 6 games left to play as Houston ALSO loses the final 7 games of the season (including getting swept by the Mariners and the Guardians) to fall completely out of the playoffs. Oh, by the way, their zillion dollar closer got smacked for four runs in one inning to start the 7 game losing streak by one of the worst teams in MLB, so they lost another opportunity to get close to clinching a title. Now, they will lose 6 more and then go ride around in golf carts for the last months of the year before heading off to Mexico to spend some of that big money they get paid to choke.
Here is what Altuve had to say after tonight's game: “We've just got to forget about the last game and show up with the best attitude,” Astros second baseman Jose Altuve said. “He was almost unhittable today,” Altuve said. Does this sound like a competitor; or some guy who has just been whipped into submission and is giving up knowing that he has been bested and will continue to be beaten down until the season ends? Quotes like these explain why they will lose five more games to end their pitiful season with the biggest collapse in MLB history.
This is probably accurate. I said Mariners troll above, but on second thought, I don’t think any Mariners fan would be that stupid.
For those with a son, have that talk with your son: "Astros are going to win today. And, we'll enjoy this moment forever and ever and ever..." Try to hide your frustrations from the family if the Astros can't clinch. Wrestle the bat away from your wife as she tries to contain your anger. And, don't rampage outside in inclement weather if the Astros choke.
"Jacksalmon" - Seattle is known for its salmon plus the weirdo was posting very late for CST but not so late for PST.
I say let this Mariners fan troll hang around. It's comic relief at the moment but will make it even more satisfying to clinch the division with him lurking about
