Trump is going about this election differently - while he is almost 80, he has been good at transitioning how he reaches people as times have changed. Trump has started spending a lot of time on male dominated social media platforms - and it seems that he has stopped trying to appeal to women voters, and has doubled down on younger males in an effort to increase their turnout. The choice to tap Vance fits into that demographic as well - target males, regardless of color or creed: double down on appealing to them and get them politically interested and voting. Trump is very comfortable speaking to the media. Harris is also going about it differently - her messaging has been primarily done by women and that has so far been very effective. However, Harris also is far more careful about what she says and who she talks to. She is trying to avoid making blunders, and she is trying to stay on message and have tight control over her image. As a woman, she probably worries about double standards and society judging her more harshly. So far most of the gender based prejudices and comments made have not impacted her electorally. The tropes that she is stupid and a w**** and not decisive have not stuck - in part because she crushed Trump at the debate, but also in part because she has managed to avoid making mistakes by being careful.

He is almost 80 years old - I am not surprised he is having less rallies. His supporters are older as well - he started this almost a decade ago.
She can support whomever she wants - but you are right, she took a lot of heat from NASCAR fans claiming she wasn’t good enough to drive other than being a socially attractive woman, she was a poor driver. I don’t follow NASCAR enough to have an opinion on her as a driver.
